We went to use the ice dispenser today and the dispenser doesn't stop making this noise.

It sounds like the motor that moves the ice, which usually comes on for a second, now it's not turning off unless the fridge is off.

We can't keep the fridge on as its so loud.

Any ideas?

We did fix our problem.

We found that it was not the ice making unit at all.  It was the flap where the ice comes out.

The flap was somehow not working properly.  We took the whole unit out (the front bit where you   press the button to choose water & ice) , and put it back together and it has been fine since.

We took a few photos to remind us of how to put it back together as it was a little bit tricky!  But no problems since

We literally took the whole bit out, and then put it back in

Make sure the appliance is not plugged in

You have to start by taking out 2 screws on the upper side of the water dispenser area.

All the parts can be gently eased out of place til the whole bit is removed.

I would strongly recommend taking lots of pictures as you go, and only try this if you have some technical ability.  It was tricky and required some time and patience!
