How do I turn off the welcome messages on my Samsung WW90T606CHE washing machine?

Hi.

Yesterday I bought a Samsung WW90T606CHE washing machine.

I'm already unsure if that was a good choice!

I have various 'challenges' that make me write that - mostly because I cannot find anything about it in the manual!

To start with: When I turn the machine on, it welcomes me with these messages:

- Welcome

- Let's explore your new washer! [Tap O to skip]

- Turn the dial to explore cycles [Tap O to skip]

- Now hold to start a cycle [Tap O to skip]

- Tap to see additional functions [Tap O to skip]

- Try saving favourites in My Cycles [Tap O to skip]

- Now hold to start a cycle [Tap O to skip]

After Tapping O (to skip) 6 (S I X) times, I'm allowed to wash my clothes! There must be a way to turn on the machine and then go directly to what's it all about - washing my dirty laundry!

Both me and my neighbours have read the manual over and over again, and we cannot find any section which explain how to turn that annoying startup spam.

So I will appreciate help on this ... a lot 👍

Have a nice day 😊

It sounds like those introductory messages on your Samsung WW90T606CHE washing machine are really annoying. Usually, these messages are there to help you get familiar with the machine, but they should ideally be skippable after the first time.

Here are a few things you can try to get rid of them:

Check for Software Updates: Sometimes, the manufacturer releases updates that fix issues like this. If your machine is connected to the internet, you might be able to check for updates through the machine’s settings or the Samsung SmartThings app.

Use the SmartThings App: If your washing machine is Wi-Fi enabled, try connecting it to the Samsung SmartThings app. This app often has more detailed settings and options that you can’t access directly on the machine.

Download the Samsung SmartThings app on your phone.Follow the instructions to connect your washing machine.Check for any settings related to the introductory messages or any available updates.

Factory Reset: You can try performing a factory reset on your washing machine. This might stop the messages from appearing. You’ll usually find this option in the machine’s settings menu, but check the manual for exact steps.

Contact Samsung Support: If nothing works, it’s best to reach out to Samsung customer support. They can provide specific instructions or possibly a firmware update that’s not publicly available.

Go to the Samsung Support website.Use their chat feature or call customer service for your region.Explain your issue, and they should be able to help you turn off those messages.

Hopefully, one of these steps will help you get straight to washing your clothes without all the extra prompts.

Thank you, DanAhmed  🙂

I'm going to make another post ... about not being able to connect the machine to the internet! So that kind og eliminate the firmware update *LOL*

I have tried the Factory reset since my first posting, but to no avail 😞

I'll look at it tomorrow once again - today I have used approx. 2 hours to get rid of those messages/connect to the internet ... so I am a little tired of that machine for today 😉

Hi Andy.
Sorry for the delay, I've been slightly ill so I have downgraded the washing machine issue for som time 🙂

But yes, I did that - to no avail. BUT approx 24 hours later, I started the washing machine - and that annoying startup BS was gone! It played the (also) annoying melody, but on the display it 'said' "Hi" and jumped right to the washing menu! But I 'fear' it will start all over if I for one reason or another, will have to reset the machine!

But one thing is certain: from now on I will go after 'old'school' washing machines - if they are available. I've probably used 5-7 hours on this + trying to get it on my network (which haven't worked) so I am already pretty worn out when it comes to Samsung washing machines!

I will copy/paste this answer to Phil ... poor guy 😉

Have a nice weekend 🙂

Hi Phil.

Just a copy/paste from the message above.

Sorry for the delay, I've been slightly ill so I have downgraded the washing machine issue for som time 🙂

I tried everything I could (including the calibration) - to no avail. BUT approx 24 hours later, I started the washing machine - and BINGO, that annoying startup BS was gone!

Have a nice weekend - and congratulations with your washing machine ... 🙂

Sorry to hear that you're unwell. I hope you recover soon. Thanks for letting me know about the start-up. I will wait through my 24 hours!

Annoying Tune: I haven't tested it, but I believe that if you hold the 'settings' button for about five seconds, it passes through the 'other settings' into a 'system settings' mode, where 'silent wash' can be selected. As I say, I haven't checked it for effectiveness.

As for the wifi issue: I similarly persisted until I got a connection but it wasn't worth it. The app will select the cycle, but why wouldn't you do that when you load the clothes? The best option was a setting to tell you when the cycle will finish but, sadly, it didn't seem to be able to sustain the connection when the machine powered down. My wife and I consider the app to be a "DumbThing" not a "SmartThing"!

Regarding the startup menu annoyance; yup, actually doing a wash seems to cancel this and everything is OK now.
