My 10 month old galaxy flip 5 started to display a green line on the central fold when opened which grew worse , ever time I opened it eventually bottom half of screen turning green or black when unfolding so booked a pick up repair.
Now being contacted saying not covered under warranty due to impact damage, the phone has never been dropped was in perfect condition with no marks it had been kept in a case since purchasing I didn't even put it in pocket with other things in the only fault was a slight lift of screen protector on the fold , so why are they not honouring the warranty why should I have to pay for a new screen when I can get a pixel phone for the same price as the repair.

Hi @mickname and may I extend a Warm Welcome to the Samsung Community Forum .

I'm disheartened to hear that you're experiencing these issues with your Samsung Flip⁵ 😔

Samsung say if there is any signs of accidental damage then they will address any issue raised by the owner once the phone is back to warranty standards.

Have they highlighted the damage they've found to you ? If not then ask to be shown.

Did you by any chance take time and date stamped photo's of the phone before sending the phone to Samsung  🤔

If so that would support your claim there was no accidental damage.

If Samsung stand by their findings then maybe any Household Contents Insurance may cover the phone, and or some bank accounts provide cover as a perk of the account.

If i can be of any further help please don't hesitate to ask  😎

Daily Driver > Samsung Galaxy s²⁵ Ultra 512Gb ~ Titanium Black.

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.
I'm here to help. " This is the way. "

Thanks for replying they just say impact damage waiting for phone to be returned but looking at other posts on this forum it looks like TMT first are damaging the screens on purpose to void warranty

@mickname  This can be  a hardware error  from the ribbon that  connrcts the panel to the phone's internal Board.  if you have photos that would be helpful in supporting your claim that it was not accidental damage though at the end of the day it will be Samsung's decision.

I do not work for Samsung or make Samsung Products but provide independent advice and valuable contributions.

The excuse not to repair mobiles in warranty, seems to have progressed from 'water damage' to impact damage.
Awful that Samsung not honouring a repair, when this is a known common problem

my niece has had the exact same thing happen to her with the flip 5 warranty refused for the same problem unfortunately they are refusing to repair mine so I'm stuck with a unusable phone and a galaxy watch 7 which can't be set up with the mobile I'm using untill my contract runs out in November. I'm staying well away from anything Samsung in the future and advising friends and family to do the same

I have had similar issue Samsung not covering phone under warranty.  Touch screen all a sudden became unresponsive.  First Samsung told me take the phone to  UbreakIfix store. Technician looked at phone for any damage,  which there was none.  He knew right off what problem was, failed DIGITIZER.  Didn't have part and couldn't order it. Told me to it out to Samsung repair center.

Upon Samsung receiving phone they said it was damaged. (Cracked screen and hinge damage). Consequently not going to cover under Samsung warranty.  Had the phone only 6 months.  The phone was in excellent condition,  verified by UbrokeIfix store.

  • I was told no worries  you have Samsung care +. You can get fixed under that policy. I appealed this further,  each time being told phone damaged, no warranty coverage. I had to pay $99 deductible on Care+ to get it fixed.  At no time did they say "failed digitizer ".

I see loads of complaints about this same manufacturing issue on forums. Obviously this is known problem and they're blaming the customer for damages so they can void the warranty.

I am receiving the phone back today.  I had to buy another phone in the mean time as this process is in in 3rd week.  I don't even dare use the phone when I get for fear of same issue happening and will have fork out another $99. I have no idea how deal with any further as Samsung isn't going to back their products while in warranty period.

Right now I'm out cost of new phone $107 (inexpensive phone) and $99 to Care+.

SHAME ON YOU SAMSUNG!!

Same issue here with my samsung flip 5 after green line started showing after 7 months the authorized service center guy said that there is a small punch mark on the display which makes my warranty void what kind of ***** is that first you give a paper display and then there is no physical damage on the outer edges and then they are saying due to a small mark pay the for the whole repair and pay the price and then the phone will come under warranty . Then what is the use of warranty I even bought a  year extended warranty that also becomes void in this case . What kind of stupidity is this from Samsung and they don't even give international warranty.
