My Samsung galaxy 4 is less than one years old and it now doesn't fully open, goes to about 175 degrees.
I have just taken it to the Samsung repair centre at the EE shop in bull ring Birmingham and been told that 'because they can see a scratch under the microscope which is not visible with the naked eye my phone is out of warranty ' they want £600 to repair.
I have taken good care of the phone and not dropped it or damaged it in any way, this is a total fob off and really poor customer service

The EE Shop you visited to have your phone assessed ~ was this a Samsung Authorised Repair Centre ?
If not then Contact Samsung directly instead of EE and ask them for support @Members_LG0eqna
If it was then contact SamsungCustomerServices to ask for the phone to be reassessed by another engineer.

The 2 Year Limited Manufacturing Warranty would not apply for a free repair if the phone showed obvious accidental damage.
Samsungs policy is to bring the phone back to warranty standards and then effect a Repair and or if the damage evident is seen as a contributing factor to the current issue.
Normal wear and tear in my personal opinion should not include a scratch.
If Samsung remain resilient then look to possible insurance cover from Household Contents Insurance and or some Bank Accounts provide cover as a perk of the account.
If I can be of any further help then please don't hesitate. Take care. 😎
