My problem is my hinge won't open all the way now. It has hairs stuck in between I'm guessing the phone heat up and the black fabric hair that is soppose to keep dust out somehow is broken.  Samsung states I caused this problem however I will link a reddit proving other wise.

Please visit this link here ( https://reddit.com/r/GalaxyFold/s/mK6W8s6W7j) Samsung has known this to be A KNOWN DEFECT BUT WONT ADDRESS IT. I THINK EVEN IN THE FOLD 5 ITS STILL A PROBLEM. I still have warranty yet samsung refuses to fix it being an internal problem. Other people argued and samsung just sent them a brand new model but me I can't why? I still got my one year warranty so what's up!!!

Samsung galaxy z fold grey green 512gb although the colors don't matter it happens on all colors and models regardless of memory and size please fix this issue or send me what's mine under warranty please.

I'm from Mexico and I'm having this issue. Samsung is not honoring the warranty either, they want 800 USD for repairs. The say the issue is because of user misuse, specifically they claim I am closing my phone Too Hard. Yes, that's what they said. I asked them how do they know this because my phone was not even opened for inspection, and they say the techs know just by looking at the phone and that they won't open the phone for inspection. After 30 minutes of the operator on the 800 number accusing me of using my phone badly, I told them I would escalate the issue with my country's consumer protection agency, and then they told me to wait, and now they have escalated my issue to "special cases" and now I have to wait 24 hours for a call from them. We'll see what happens.

Same happened to me. They just drag it out and stand by their engineers decision. It's a joke

I bought the fold 4 on Aug 2022, this hinge problem happened on May 2023, not even one year from the use. There's some sort of gel coming out from the hinge and the phone cannot be unfold further. Since it was within warranty, they fixed it for free but heck the freaking same problem happens again at Dec 2023 which is like half a year from last fix and now they want to charge me like 400 USD to repair that. THIS IS DEFINITELY SAMSUNG KNOWN INTERNAL QUALITY ISSUE AND THEY ARE EARNING FROM THE CUSTOMER WITH THIS. I am betting if I pay for this repair, it will come again in next few months. Premium flagship they say, can't last for more than a year.

I just got off a long frustrating call with Samsung as well ... Their repair depot rejected my repair order even though I'm still in warranty because there was a scratch on the spine and Samsung warranty does not cover ANYTHING if there is any scratch ... Hmm, who in the world doesn't have a single scratch on their cell phone ?!   Seems like a sneaky trick to avoid having to do any warranty work.   I tried explaining that this hinge issue is clearly a design flaw as so many people are having it but Samsung does not feel like standing up to the quality of their designs - makes me wish that I didn't switch from Apple last year.    Buyer beware perhaps -  I for one will look very closely at companies who have a track record for honoring warranties vs. ones with small print to get around them.    Thanks for your post - helps me somewhat to feel like I'm not alone in this.

My Z Fold 4, which I baby and use occasionally the inner screen, all of a sudden after 9 months since new, produce a glue like substance on the hinge.... at the same time it stop opening, unfolding fully, it stayed at 10 degrees less every day almost, now the inner screen is half dead with lines and flickering.... it turns out that by itself the brushes inside the hinge are come off place where they are glued somehow and jammed the inside mechanism and the flex cables running between the two halves, destroying everything....I book it for service... here in UK and I pray I did not lose 1800 pounds on the bin with this flaw design.....

Let's see if they fix mine is 9 months from new and this happened just before the New Year as a present from Samsung.... I wasted so much money to have the foldable... I am waiting for this to be collected...

This is exactly what happened to me this morning.  I woke up, pulled the phone off the wireless charging pad and opened it up only to notice it wasn't opening all of the way.  I thought that was weird so I closed it and opened it again only this time it was very stiff to open.  I noticed - what I thought was unpeeled protective film on the hinge.  It came off in one large strip.

Now it won't open all of the way.  I've owned this phone since launch day and love it to death but this is a huge issue it appears.  I never had this problem with my fold 2 (although I'm now having the same issue with my 4 as I did my 2 - which is the inner screen cover is peeling up at the hinge crease).

I'm going to talk to Samsung and see if it can be repaired.  Not about to spend $800 or whatever to get something fixed that was never my fault.  This phone has never been dropped and has always had a case on it.

I bought samsung galaxy fold 4 from giffgaff at the end of 2023 and after 1 month the phone stopped fully unfolding. Giffgaff refused to fix it. Unfortunately there is no place in the UK to find justice including ombudsman. Contacted ombudsman but wasted time.

My hinge failed and wouldn't open fully. I took it my nearest Samsung store in London. Sat down with the technician and all was going well although they stated they had never seen this before, which I found odd and in hindsight that's where the blagging started.

My phone is in mint condition. Not a single mark on it but.....

Out comes the microscope!! They put it under a microscope 😂 and found a microscopic dink. At that moment they voided my warranty and told me I had to pay.

In utter disbelief, I just sat there. I couldn't believe what they were saying. I mark that you couldn't see with the naked eye, no where near the hinge had caused the hinge to fail!

I refused to leave the shop!

An hour later they honoured the repair.

I will never buy Samsung again and I have always had them!
