Latest security update bricked phone

My wife has the flip 6. Overnight she installed the most recent security update. When she woke up this morning she found that the inner screen no longer works. It still has a display, but will not accept any input. Using the buttons on the outside still work and I have been able to to minimal tasks with voice commands. The outside screen worked for a period of time, but about an hour into messing with it, the outer screen went black and has no display and I am unsure if it is accepting input.

Besides getting a replacement phone, is there anything that can be done for this? Has anyone gone through a bricked phone before, we have insurance that we can use, but a software update bricking the phone from the company that made the phone does not seem like something that we should be paying for. (of course that is more an us problem to argue with them about.)

I've never come across a phone bricking just from a software update but I suppose you could try a quick soft reset by pressing volume down and power button until phone turns off and back on (should get a vibration.)

If bought in UK you'd have a 24 month warranty anyway so can always call Samsung and get engineer to look at it. you'll need your proof of purchase too 🙂

Is this the January security patch? Also is it in the UK? I have a Z flip 6 and installed the security patch the other day here in the UK. Hope you find a solution.

I suspect the phone was either on a wireless charger and wireless charging is disabled when the phone is updating or the phone battery was too low when she updated and the phone lost power which can brick it

I have the Flip 6 and I did the udpate on 28th January and have been having issues with my inside screen freezing and/or remaining black since 29th January and receiving System error messages which clearly shows it is down to the software update and not the phone. I also agree that we should not be paying to fix a problem caused my Samsungs own updates but again will argue this when needed. Sadly no solutions and have tried everything suggested but with no luck yet

I am having the exact same issue with the exact same phone. I was at work (3rd shift) and completed the update and roughly 15 minutes later my phone was bricked. I can get it to work temporarily with a shut down and restart, but only temporarily. I have even factory reset my device and that still hasn't fixed it. Anybody said anything to you about a fix yet?
