Hi all this is my first post here, I've owned a galaxy z fold 4 for over a year without issue, today out of the blue when I plugged it in to charge I just get a flashing battery icon and it won't charge at all , tried several chargers/cables with the same result, after a while I realised if I fold it closed it charges as it should , as soon as I unfold the phone I get the same result back to flashing icon and not charging.
Works fine on wireless charging.
Tried soft reset but no change

@Motogp1

I think your going to need the help of a Samsung Service Centre my friend.

Daily Driver > Samsung Galaxy s²⁴ Ultra 512Gb ~ Titanium Black.

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.
I'm here to help. " This is the way. "

As @BandOfBrothers has mentioned, it's likely going to need a service visit.
You can try Wiping the Partition Cashe on the phone and see if that makes any difference. Just takes a minute so worth try.
If you have any third party themes or launchers, maybe try going to the stock programs and see if that makes a difference
Hopefully it's something simple like that

Wiping the Partition Cashe clears out a lot of old or corrupted information that can cause issues

Follow the steps below. You must follow every step and you should be done in about a minute

Turn off your phone.

Connect your phone with a USB cable
to PC or another Samsung mobile

You will see the charging icon on your screen.
Wait till it shows charging with battery percentage.

Next, press and hold the Volume up and Side key simultaneously.
You can press the volume up button just before the Side key.
The Samsung Logo followed by
Samsung Galaxy appears on the
screen.

At this point, release the keys
Phone will boot into Android Recovery mode

In Android recovery mode, using Volume keys, choose "Wipe Cache
Partition" .
Use the power button to accept that.
You will then see its cleared.

Then the top option, reboot phone.
Press the power button to reboot the phone and then sign in normally

Maybe go into support then phone diagnostics , it'll get you to run various checks including wired charging , might highlight an issue ?

Unfortunately I'm not in my home country so will have to wait until I return to take it to a service centre.
What I have found out it if I plug the charger in while the phone is open I get the flashing icon and a notification that charging has stopped due to low temperature (I'm in souther Spain and it's 21 degrees) if I leave it plugged in for 20 minutes it then starts charging but the notifications changes to phone charging slowing due to low temperature, if I close up the phone then everything changes as it should, I open it again and the above problems return.

I took mine back to a Samsung service centre and they had to replace the main board (free of charge) under warranty, these phones are under warranty until August 2024.
