Samsung seems to have been very coy about it. All the repair shops claim it is the motherboard issue. There is a Reddit thread in SIngapore with a photo showing the cable for Wifi and bluetooth designed to sit at the crease. They claim to be able to fix it, and they claim that many repair shops are not aware of this. I do know that when you bring in the phone to a repair shop, most of them will actually call a"real repair guy" for the actual cost, which means many repair shops are just a front. I bought an add on warranty in the US for Tmobile, and then they also went silent and would not honor my insurance purchase. Samsung kept pushing for a trade-in for a Fold 4/5 upgrade. I bought my Z fold 3 with 500Gb. Unfortunately Samsung trade in is same $$ whether it is 250Gb or 500Gb, so it would have been at a $ loss for me. I still think there is a fold issue, especially w the cable for wifi and bluetooth, although Samsung seems silent on this and turfs it to a "motherboard issue." It also seems that a lot of the internal screen units that "burned up" and had no more screen view, also had wifi-bluetooth issues, as seen by eBay posting for Z fold 3 sales of defective inner screen units.

Update from me: It seems to be a motherboard issue. I didn't want to go through the repair process and go without a phone for god knows how long knowing Samsung support. I tried to accept their trade in offer for the Fold5 at a discount but Samsung cancelled my orders and restricted my account from purchasing. Basically saying I am a security risk? I filed a complaint with the BBB but at this point I am done with Samsung if this is how they treat their customers who buy their $2000 phones. I'll happily switch to a Pixel/Pixel Fold and encourage others to stop giving their money to this company especially for their folds. Great phone but I can't spend that much money with no support.

It turned out that the flex cable was broken, it is not the circuit board, screen issue. The repair cost me US$230.
I have doubts about buying a foldable phone again. Samsung claimed that the hinge was durable, but the flex cables that connected the two halves were fragile. The cables broke before the screen and hinge, which was a design flaw or a material limitation. I think they should embed that cable in the main screen. I might not upgrade to another foldable if they don't solve this problem.

Just happened to my Fold 3 which is a r e placement for my original Fold 3. First Fold 3 after 2 years would just shut down after opening to screen. Only stayed on if plugged in. Used Tmobile device insurance to get a replacement Fold 3 and now I'm experiencing this WiFi issue after less than 3 months with new Fold 3.

so based on your experienced it shouldn't be hardware more likely on the software issue, right? I encountered it since last month ago. at that time at least i was able to get back the Wifi ON after some minor tweaks here and there (ie. taking out the Sim card and putting it back again) but now it's totally can't turn ON and there's still no confirmation what is causing it? i've checked with friends using Fold 2 and 4 they did not have such issue.

No. The screen on both inside and outside started becoming glitch as well. My second Fold 3 to do so and this one had only been used for 2 months, a replacement for my original Fold 3 I'd owned for 2 years. Absolutely the worst built premium device I've owned, and I've owned them all.
