Flip 6 - Cover screen notifications not lighting up the screen

My new Flip 6, whenever the device is closed and the AOD is on on the Cover screen, whenever I receive a notification it lightly appears on the AOD and vanishes. I still have the symbol showing I've received this but the screen doesn't actually light up so it's hard to see in the corner of my eye when I receive a notification. 

Secondly, WhatsApp notifications don't even pop up at all. Just the symbol appears. All the notification settings for WhatsApp are turned on and Cover Screen notification for WhatsApp is on also.

Any ideas?

Settings >notifications >notification pop up style>Edge lighting style. Tap Advanced and have a play with the sliders. Also, ensure the notification pop-up style is set to Brief.

For notifications ( apologies if you've already done this)

Settings>Notifications >Advanced settings >Manage notification catagories for each app. Toggle that ON.

Then goto
Settings>Notifications >App notifications. Tap on each and all of the apps you want to assign sounds to. Tap 'Notification catagories' and toggle on each category as appropriate.
To assign a sound to each category, then just tap on each one and tap 'Sound'. Choose a sound.

The advance settings works but all it does is still apply this special lighting to the AOD which is already very dim and still very hard to see.

Try installing the Good Lock app from the Galaxy store. Then, use the LockStar module. This should give you an AOD brightness slider.

Any ideas about what WhatsApp pop up notifications don't appear on the AOD at all when they come through (apart from the small icon)

Unsure. Sorry. Maybe a WhatsApp thing. I do know there's a seperate notification setting in the WhatsApp app itself.

I have the same issue it seems to only affect the samsung message app ..also the what's app messge when folded the 1st message never shows on cover screen as it fails to wake the screen up

Whatsapp notifications don't work because of the one ui version. I have same issue with flip 3. Notifications work on cover screen for calls & sms but not all the time for whatsapp. Samsung said its a whatsapp matter I tried to raise it to whatsapp but doesn't appear to have the option to raise a support question.
