Dear Samsung,
I stay in Egypt bought a fold 4 from Dubai, was using happily with minor snags until yesterday. Suddenly the phone goes blank after a few minutes the front small screen starts working but if f i open the fold or if i unfold it again the front screen goes blank and middle is already blank. I saw a video of trying to restart the phone by pressing the low volume button and the start button for 20 seconds. Doing that the phone starts and even when unfolded the phone works but for a short while, then with a hissing sound stops. Am getting a serious software error and to reload the software. While on going to a Samsung service shop i am promptly told to change the internal display for a cost of around 600 USD.
I am really disappointed in Samsung, i need to buy a new phone to repair this old phone because i cant do without a phone ?? Why make faulty phones ?? Why spoil your reputation ??

Oh, by the way, I was out, today, getting frustrated due to black screen. I tapped the top of the big screen on my knuckle and got my screen back! (because of a YT video I watched about the magnet inside the phone up there.)

Same issue happened yesterday while I tried to capture a screenshot on inner screen, it went black.
I have tried to do soft reset but only front screen work. Once I opened the fold or close it, it went back to black on both screens.
Please help.

OK. Here's what I learned: there is a small magnet to the right of the big screen's camera. It is defective in that it isn't the right size.
When my screen goes black, I simply gently smacked it on my hand until the screen came back on.

BUT, this is only if your phone is beyond warranty!
Under warranty, Samsung employs UBreakIFix (you break I fix) to do the repairs. You need to contact Samsung to get the information. They have storefronts all over the USA (I don't know about other countries.)
My phone is under warranty, so I won't be doing any of these things. I'll let Samsung/UBreakIFix deal with it.

I bought an open box zfold 4 from Best Buy, Corpus Christi on 5th jan 2024 and after registering it on Samsung website the warranty is not displaying. I contacted Best buy and they have advised me to come to the store for further assistance. Unfortunately I could not return the product within 14 days of purchase as I am travelling. I believe open box products from best buy get the 1 year warranty and it will be sent for repairs.

Got my phone sim card swapped out to my other z-flip 4 and took it to UBreakIFix location and he saw that I had to rap the screen to turn it on. So he took it into the back room and 'recalibrated' the phone. Didn't get a straight answer; must be a trade secret!
I swapped the sim cards back to MY phone and it's working! He told me to give it a week and if the black screen starts up, again, he'll swap out the main screen.

I have the exact same issue. My phone worked perfectly fine. I went to open it and the inside foldable screen is completely black. After closing the screen after 10 seconds the exterior screen of the phone will turn back on and is responsive I have power cycled the phone by holding the power button with the down volume button making the phone reset. After reboot if I slightly open the screen on the inside is displaying the Samsung logo as it normally would but if I open it more than 10% it goes to the black screen and then the phone doesn't want to function again for 10 seconds or so. I reached out to Samsung and was told that the device is 4 months out of warranty. I have to take it to a authorized repair center and pay whatever they decide to charge me for a repair. What is crazy is I still owe almost $900 to the carrier on the device. I'm in the United States.

It's worth going in. All they did was 'recalibrate' my phone. I believe the magnet that's just right of the inside camera lens was out of position. My phone has been fine for these past 2 months.

Bro, you have the exact same issue I was facing with my Z Fold 4, I went to the Best Buy customer service, and they told me to leave the product and it will be sent to Samsung for any repairs that may be needed.
My Z Fold 4 was an open box product under 1 year warranty.
I declined to do so as I am travelling, then they gave me an option to simply return the product for a full refund of 800 USD, I paid for open box product. I did so and took the full refund and bought new Z Flip 5.
I believe they will get it refurbished from Samsung and sell it at a higher price.
