Confusing battery usage

A couple of months ago I bought a Galaxy-Z Flip3 which I've been pretty happy with. If I don't make or receive any calls the daily battery usage drops by about 9 percentage points. But almost half of that usage is at night - when the phone's turned off!! What could be causing so much battery usage when the phone isn't even switched on? Or could I maybe have a duff battery? My previous mobile phones had almost no battery usage when turned off.

I often wonder if a phone is turned off, is it really.
I know with the iPhone, it's never fully off and no way to do that. Wonder if this is the same with Android phones as well.
Turning it off will use some battery with shutting down apps etc, as well as turning back on with the loading up process.
Don't forget that some apps like Facebook can be quite power hungry.

As an experiment I tried switching it to Airplane mode while off and that did make a difference - down from about 4 percentage points per night to 3. So it's obviously still "online" somehow - even when powered down 😞

Yeah I only realised when I found out you can find a lost iPhone even if it's turned off.
Figured there must be something similar with some Android phones as well

I had Smartthings eating my Flip 3 battery this week. In any case, you can check what's causing it by going to Device Care in Settings, tap on the Battery tab, then tap on the Usage Since Last Charge graph and it'll list the usage of each app, starting with the one that has been using your battery the most.

Interesting...  apart from Samsung Internet, Google Play Services is the biggest user - but still less than 1 minute per day. Maybe the usage list only lists apps that were active whilst switched on?

Strange that, yeah. I'd bet its being used on the restart/load up if I had to guess.

Or maybe the very fast charging batteries just aren't too great at holding their charge?

I have started losing 1% within a minute of taking it off the wireless charging pad so you could be right

I have the same phone and I can lose 2 or 3% when the phone starts up after a full charge.
