Samsung support are useless. They fobbed me off telling me to wait till the next update, but today I updated, it hasn't helped.

I found a fix on the internet that worked for me when paying again at the shop.
Follow these steps:
Go to Settings -> Apps -> Google Wallet -> Battery -> Switch the setting from 'Optimized' to 'Unrestricted'

If you go to Settings / Connections / NFC and contactless payments, the phone will show you where the sensor is located.

After extensive testing and following various suggestions, I've come to the conclusion that the NFC chip in the Galaxy S25 Ultra is weak and easily disrupted by anything even slightly magnetic or thickness of the case.
To work around this, I've switched to the Torras Galaxy S25 Ultra Guardian Case, which is lightweight and a basic cover with no bells and whistles. But—my NFC now works flawlessly.
Even with the NFC chip being located in the top left corner, my previous wallet case didn’t allow it to scan due to its thickness. My magnetic case completely blocked it due to the magnets. Only this case (and likely other similarly simple cases) seem to work.
This cover is a pathetic downgrade. For a $2.4K AUD phone, it’s absurd that Samsung is not only planning to charge for AI next year but also downgraded the S Pen, weakened the NFC tag, and blatantly lied about the glass being better.
Absolutely disgraceful, Samsung. Wasted money on a so called premium product.
