I used the 3x zoom on both with auto settings. Also left the watermarks on for both and 5x for the last 2

Yeah I hear you 👍😉

It is striking the right balance between correctly exposing your pictures in a fairly quick manner... perhaps in raw mode with some post processing afterwards. Obviously to set all the parameters for ISO, aperture and shutter speed manualy can take some time on the fly. Semi manual modes must be possible to change the EV exposure value whilst still allowing the phone to make judgements to balance the priority modes accordingly.

I assume you can save your manual settings into a favourite user mode for example... hence you can do a lot of your trial and error beforehand and then quickly switch to your favourite settings.

Obviously it is going to take some getting used to. Enjoy the ride

That's great, mate. I love saturated colours, but to my eyes, sammys looks better here, especially the second one. I've watched a few reviews of it and wasn't overly impressed. The selfie camera was also better on the Samsung in the reviews. I find the xiaomi too narrow and smaller than the S23/S24/S25 ultras. Wouldn't want to downsize whatsoever. Also prefer the design of the Samsungs. Personally, I would still prefer my S23 ultra over everything that's available right now. Extremely capable cameras amongst everything else it has to offer. I know there are better cameras out there, but I'm not willing to part with the S23 ultra masterpiece yet. Still has plenty going for it. A better camera system on any phone won't swing it for me, lol. I'm happy to wait and see what the S26 ultra will have in store. But for now, I really don't feel anything is worth upgrading for. ✌🏻

I upgraded to the Xiaomi 15 Ultra from the S23 Ultra and im blown away by the photo quality over the Samsung,  the Samsung indoors in lower light was really poor in comparison, grainy and a bit smudgy? i didnt see any noticeable noise on my Xiaomi shots, i could never get the motion right on the samsung either, having 2 young kids it was a constant frustration trying to capture them without blur, the iphone seems to handle this the best, but the Xiaomi is actually pretty decent at blue free shots especially with the motion mode activated.

The Samsung feels like a great phone with a pretty decent camera, the Xiaomi feels more like a great camera with pretty decent phone functions!

I got the Pro 7 pad thrown in (sold it to offset the cost), a 120w charger, and a pro camera kit for 99p which i thought would be a bit of a gimmick but its actually great and really well built with a proper shutter button, zoom control, and exposure wheel, you can even screw on lens filters.

The battery lasts ages too and the OS is actually pretty great and doesn't contain adverts like what some people were saying!

No regrets, this thing is awesome!

What "raw capture ability" Samsung got rid of that in the beginning of 2023.

Xiaomi also offer real raw and computational raw (uraw), with the one key difference to Samsung: with Xiaomi it's actually working.
