Hello, everyone. I want to write again so that Samsung finally hears people and does something about the PWM in their devices.

I've been using Samsung all my life (Tablet, watch, headphones, powerbank, phone. All this is from Samsung). Unfortunately, my Galaxy Note 10 Plus had outlived its life and it was time for me to change my phone. I bought a Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and it's just awful: literally after a minute of use, I experienced eye-strain, nausea, dizziness, headaches,  e.t.c. In general, the complete set of a person sensitive to PWM. I have never experienced such intense and prolonged pain. (The symptoms remained for 4 hours after stopping using the phone). Even with a tablet, there was no such thing (That's why I still use the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 because of its TFT screen). I'm asking Samsung to finally pay attention to the problem, because I physically can't use modern devices, and I don't want to switch to an iPhone or Xiaomi. Do something about it already. My phone is already 6 years old, and I can't change it just physically, even tho I have money to buy a new phone. Thank God I was able to return my Galaxy S25 Ultra, but for 1,550 € Samsung could have done something with the PWM instead of removing Bluetooth from the S-Pen.

I'm writing in all the languages I know so that more people can see this post.

Dobrý den. Chci napsat ještě jednou, aby Samsung konečně slyšel lidi a udělal něco s PWM v jejich zařízeních.

Celý život používám Samsung (tablet, hodinky, sluchátka, powerbanku, telefon. To vše od Samsungu). Bohužel můj Galaxy Note 10 Plus sloužil svůj čas a nastal čas, abych změnil telefon.

It seems odd that you experience PWM issues with the S25 Ultra and none with the Note 10. The S25 Ultra uses DC dimming which should drastically help with these issues. It's even more unusual you say the iPhone is fine when they typically uses the same components. Nevertheless, you could try increasing the screen brightness or turning on the blue light filter.

Hi, I'm really sorry you get these symptoms, it sounds really debilitating. I certainly wasn't aware of pwm dimming being an issue for some people before you posted this. I have times where I can suffer intense migraines and find reducing blue light can help me with that, although its probably different to what you're experiencing. Have you tried experimenting with display settings such as turning off adaptive brightness, motion smoothness and enabling eye comfort shield and turning off vivid mode? Really hope you get some help with this

And does using dark mode reduce symptoms at all?

Trust me, I tried everything: contacting with doctors, using eye comfort shield, screen protector, eye glasses, dark theme, 3rd party apps like "Screen dimmer" and nothing works. Unfortunately, PWM is just the way OLED panels control brightness and only manufacturers can deal with it. This flickering irritating eyes of all people, but some of them, like me, have sensitivity to it and lead to these bad problems. I can't use Pixel, Samsung and older iPhone phones because of that. Only Chinese phones that have DC-Dimming options work for me, but Chinese phones in the EU without Google services are just bruh...

This sounds like quite an ordeal for you; I'm sorry to hear all this. I really do hope you find a solution for the time being, even if it means a switch.

I looked online about this and this has to do with the LEDs turning on and off quickly and it's the flickering that causes these issues for some people, if I understand this correctly.    If I'm wrong, please correct me. (I believe the refresh rate on my S25 Ultra is 120.)

I would think that watching a film in the cinema, since a 35mm projector displays 24 frames per second, would also cause problems for you?

This seems to be a real issue for some, but I also remember the introduction of 5G and what that was supposed to bring (negatively) as well.

Have there been double-blind tests to actually confirm this?    I'm normally skeptical about these things.  (You should visit audiophile sites and read discussions on Mobster Cable.  :smiling-face:  )
