Onedrive Gallery sync

Context - 

- I use Google Photos to backup my "Camera" folder

- I use the built in Samsung Gallery onedrive sync to backup/sync all other folders 

I've been doing this for years - until this morning I notice my phone heating up and not cooling down. I then realise that onedrive has randomly decided to sync my camera folder and stop syncing all my other folders?

I've now fixed this - stopped the sync, deleted all the 30GB of camera folder photos from onedrive but despite turning off sync for the camera folder, i've lost all my photos on the phones camera folder.

SUPER annoying but not the end of the world - all those photos are backed up to Google Photos. 

First time this silly sync issue has happened - I've backed up / synced this way for years with no issue. So silly!

I never rely on one backup.
It's too easy for something to go wrong.
Like you I use Google to backup photos. Also use One drive and Amazon Photos as you can backup full resolution to Amazon
I'd probably do the same with other stuff as well.
The issue could have been if the app updated when you are not using the phone. I can imagine the annoyance.
Strange it's deleted from the phone as well. Good thing you have Google photos backup
