Does adaptive brightness actually save battery then just manually setting the Brightness?

I find manually setting saves battery more. Auto brightness it's constantly changing.

It depends. Auto brightness can actually go brighter than what manual can. It aims to keep your phone at the same viewability. So if you're outside in the bright sun, your brightness will be super high. So if you're ok with a dimmer screen, manual could save power. Though if you then go inside, you'd need to lower the brightness else auto would save power. I'd say just keep it on auto and adjust to how you like it if it seems off. Samsung auto brightness learns how you like things set so eventually will always be where you want it to be

I have found in the past that Auto Brightness was not consistent indoors at any rate,  agree that on a sunny Day  Auto Brightness has its benefits. obviously can experiment.

I do not work for Samsung or make Samsung Products but provide independent advice and valuable contributions.

I agree with this observations. My issue is that the auto-brightness under direct sunlight is too bright for me and there is no way I can make the phone understands that while keeping the "Adaptive brightness" enabled. I find it inconvenient to have to change to manual when I'm outside and to automatic when I'm indoors. It's just something that I constantly have to adjust.

What would be logical is to be able to adjust the highest heights of the "Adaptive brightness" even when under direct sunlight. Why would it be allowed to adjust in other conditions, but not when the sun hits directly? It makes no sense to me.

The display looks overburnet with max brightness and taking photos - really awful looking and the colors are far from what they are in practice.

I reckon this should be fixed with a SW update.
