Video Call Effects not available on S24+ UI One 6.1 Android 14 (toggle switch is missing in the menu)

Hi.

Video Call Effects function does not work on S24+ UI One 6.1 Android 14 (Settings - Advanced features - Video call effects). There's no toggle switch to turn the function on (see the attached screenshot). Is this a bug?

It seems all is set up properly (see the attached screenshot) but in the none of the selected apps the blurred background or a selected background does not apply. Nothing happen since the function is obviously deactivated by default and I can't turn it on since there's no toggle switch in the menu to do so! In the video calls in all the selected apps (Meet, Messenger, Zoom) a see my original background - I can only blur or change it via the app's settings during the call itself. So, the phone's Advanced Video Call Effect function does not force the selected apps to apply the blurred or selected background as set in the phone's settings menu.

In my the other Galaxy devices (S10e & Tab S9+) the toggle switch is present & the function works properly (eg the phone enforces eg. Meet to blur the background during the video call).

Anybody else with the same issue? 🤔  With no toggle switch for activating / deactivating "Video call effects" feature in the "Advanced features" menu in Galaxy S24+ phone's Settings.

Best regards,

Greg

Hi @EM7771 I have some good news.

I have figured out a workaround.

Install Activity Launcher (by Adam Szalkowski) from Google Play.

Open the app, find the "Video Call Effects" on the activity list & press it to see all its activities. Find & launch "Video call effect - com.samsung.android.vtcamerasettings.MainActivity" and a menu will open. Click "Start" first and then "Visible Menu". A menu will be displayed at the bottom of the screen. Choose "Background" for picking a color, photo or blur effefct. Choose "Face" for setting smotthening effect etc. When you're all done setting the various effects, click on X to close the menu, leave the Activity Launcher app, go to the one of the supported messaging apps & make a video call.

The Video call effect will be activated & will work fine in Meet, Zoom, Fb Messenger etc 👍

Solution: Whatsapp etc. During a video call, pull down the notification bar and click on effects from there.

@GREMIH Video Call effect is a network provider feature. If this is not available, I'd recommend speaking to your network provider to see if this is available or if any settings are blocked on your account.

@LukeB2 , thanks for your reply & suggestion.

But mind I'm not talking about Video Call Effects in the stock Phone app but in the messaging apps like Google Meet, Zoom, Facebook Messenger via Wi-Fi or mobile data. And the function works just fine on my S10+ & Tab S9+ using the same mobile provider or wireless network as my S24+ where this particular function can't be switch on in the phone's Advanced features menu in Settings since the slider switch is completely missing (not grayed out but missing). I can't switch the effects or choose a background in the apps, and it works. But the Video Call Effects function in phone's Advanced features doesn't since it can't be switched on due to missing slider switch. This function forces selected apps like Meet or Zoom to blur the background or use a selected background as default so no additional setting in the app is needs in this particular regard.

This has absolutely nothing to do with network provider.

You can submit an Error Report via the Members app, this will enable our experts to take a deeper look into this. You can do this by opening the Samsung Members app > Support > Error reports > Select your symptom > Set your frequency, and include a fully detailed description of what has occurred > Attach a screenshot with the paperclip icon in the top right > Make sure “Send system log data” is ticked > Send (arrow top right).

@MI5Ultra is a toggle switch for "Video Call Effects" present in your phone's Settings - Advanced features menu? It should be there. It is in my S10e & Tab S9+ but missing in S24+
