Hello Samsung Team,

Since updating to One UI 8.0, my phone has started shuting down randomly, and when I attempt to play a specific local HDR video file.

Device Information:

  • Device Model: Galaxy S24 (SM-921B/DS)

  • One UI Version: 8.0

  • Android Version: 16

  • Build Number: S921BXXU9CYI5

Detailed Description of Issue: Since updating to One UI 8, my phone instantly crashes when I try to play one particular 4K 60fps HDR10 video file. This crash only happens when I use Samsung Gallery app.

Key Troubleshooting Findings: The issue appears to be highly specific, as I have confirmed the following:

  • VLC Plays the File: The exact same problematic video file plays perfectly without any issues in the VLC for Android app.

  • Other HDR Files Work: I can play other 4K 60fps HDR10 videos in the Samsung Gallery app without any crashes.

  • Streaming Apps Work: HDR content on streaming services like YouTube works perfectly fine.

If anyone knows why my phone randomly shuts down, and why when viewing a specific video it also shuts down (since One UI 😎 I would really appreciate it.

Report it using the send feedback button. You probably just found a bug with how the phone processes hdr video. Your video probably is unique enough to trigger the bug

I sent the feedback. The only problem is that I had to delete the video since just the preview was crashing my phone. I only have a backup on my google photo app, but I don't think it will be the same as the problematic one.
