Just regarding upgrading to a new device samsung push out 2 new phones each year lol I'm currently using S23 ultra which I find a great phone you can get 3/5 years out of phone including updates so I won't be upgrading to a new phone I will wait for the S27 for the sake of a few extra functions, am I bothered about the back case showing finger marks on my s23 which is inside a case don't think so lol. so the extra you get with the s24 Ai will eventually come over to the s23 and 22 series so rather silly upgrading every 5 mins my thoughts only, reviews so far on the S24 compared to the s23 are not great the only people who are onto a winner is samsung taking everyones money twice a year lol.

Everyone's allowed to have their own opinion, but as someone that has had the s23 ultra & have upgraded to the s24 ultra, I can definitely say the s24 ultra is definitely an upgrade & is much better than the s23 ultra, considering some might complain about over exaggerated colours like the previous s models, I'm more into realistic colours (my preference) hence no complaints about this device.

I agree with you that there aren't earth shattering differences between the S24 Ultra and S22 Ultra, let alone the S23 Ultra. That would be true for every upgrade on every device, upgrades are like evolution, small incremental steps. The S series is released once a year. The S27 is only three years away. if you are happy to wait.

However, it is not silly to upgrade. Nobody upgrades because they need to, they upgrade because they want and can. We all expend money on things that other people might consider silly.

I do agree thought. But I will be sticking to my S23 for now. I don't really see the point of upgrading. Yes the S24 series has all of the Ais features. New chipset, better software support and other minor upgrades. Plus Samsung supporting the S24 for 7 years is good. Thing is most people tend to hold on to their phones around 3-4 years before upgrading

In terms of camera, it's not an upgrade but rather disappointment! I've done this stupid upgrade and what I find is camera is still a disappointment for 50/200MP. Just take a few photos and you will see the same issues as s23 ultra! No details, smudgy soft photos... Samsung photo processing is terrible!

Hi @Paulgoonerboy

People upgrade or don't upgrade for multiple reasons.

Samsung launches 3 new phone's which are typically the normal sized model , and + size and then the Ultra with sPen.

i.e

Their current phone performs OK.

Their current phone has seen better days i.e broken  / scratched screen / degrading battery and Lag.

Games or apps wanted no longer work or work properly with their current phone.

There old phone no longer gets software updates or security updates, and photo's taken are poor.

It's not upgrade time with their network contract.

Disposable income.

I am drawn to the Samsung Galaxy s²⁴ Ultra because it ticks the next three wants and needs that interest me.......

  • Flat screen ~ No curved edges.
  • Boxy design.
  • A.I.

The first two reason's takes me back to the Samsung Note days that I chose before this line up was discontinued ,and the Ultra series introduced.

This phone is now supported for years 👍

The next new advancement in regards to A.I interests me.

The CEO of Samsung did say that some of the A.I Enhancements are coming to eligible phone's, but as of yet no-one knkws which phone's and which parts of the A.I will migrate over.

I'm also a phone guy ~ This means phone technology and phone's in general are my personal interest.

Did I need a new phone  🤔  No.

Did I want this new phone 🤔  Yes.

In my opinion it's only silly not to pursue what one wants in life as long as due diligence is performed and does not have a negative impact on their lifestyle and wellbeing and finances etc.

Each to their own 😎

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.
I'm here to help. " This is the way. "

The strange thing is nearly every s model the same thing was said, eventually after a few camera software tweaks, fixes, most people were satisfied with their devices, so I see no reason that the same formula won't keep working. Not everyone is dissatisfied with the cameras performance.

I am also a technology guy.  I had no need to upgrade. I just wanted it and fortunately enough to afford it.

I agree with your post, but in my case I would add to the wants the S Pen, like they say, the pen is mightier than than the sword.  😀

I admit that I do not use it as much as I like, because I do not see the point of taking the pen out just for browsing contacts or similar tasks. I love the size of the ultra but my fingers can be too big for small icons like the drop down arrow for each notification and the pen is perfect for it. Taking notes, editing pics. The S-Pen is one the features that draws me to the Ultra.
