Suggestion: Allow control of app notification categories in Do Not Disturb

I have a work email and a personal email logged in using the Gmail app from the Google Play Store. Within the Gmail apps notification settings in one UI, there is in fact the option to enable and disable notifications for each individual account that is signed in with the app. However when making app exceptions through the do not disturb interface in the system settings, there is not an option to enable just certain categories or certain accounts within an app. Only the whole app. I have heard that Pixel users have this option, so clearly it is codable.

I know it's not the solution you're looking for but still worth considering, have a look at island on f-droid, it activates a work profile on the device. Natively there's the secure folder too. Either of these would allow you to have another Gmail app installed. The island created work profile can be "turned off" for the day, this closes the apps and prevents notifications until you turn it back on.

@dgosgd: I have gone ahead and passed your suggestion to our Research and Development Team, who will explore the possibility of implementing this feature in future products or updates. As soon as I hear back from them, I will keep you posted.

Is there any news about this?
This "new" DND style is terrible and lack advanced customization like the option to ignore DND for single notification channels (or categories, how you wanna call them). I understand the need to simplify things, but this is more a downgrade than a way to make things easier. It would be great to have an option to enable this feature like we do for notification categories (now disabled by default).
