I have several backups on my phone to include a local one to an SD card. I bought an 128GB SD card a few years ago along with a card reader (or whatever they're called). I insert the card reader into the phone (along with the 128GB SD card) and backup everything on the phone. You could just as easily transfer all your photos to an external SSD drive.
You have many options. My wife has an account with Google and pays €2.99, I believe per month, where she stores her photos in the cloud. (She's gotten into photography.)
You could probably start by deleting a lot of those photos that aren't so good. (I'm constantly deleting photos that I know aren't so good.)

It is hard to get more storage without paying extra. I recommend a Portable SSD T7 or T9 (more expensive), they are very fast and work very well with the phones. They are not cheap and not as convenient as cloud storage. Of course, any other SSD drive from a reputable manufacturer will do the job.
I think free cloud storage has been shrinking for all providers. They all have announced reducing the amount of free storage. You know, they hook you in, then they will give you the bill.
If you have an Asus device, they provide some cloud storage. I do not think that you will find a provider with over 15GB of storage, Google provides 15, but most of them are offering 5 or less.

On your advice a few months ago I signed up to Google One 100gb, not looked back. I like:
VPN included
100gb storage (phone has 512gb but can save v. Important stuff)
Extra editing tools for photos
Worth the £16 a year or so that it costs. 🫠
