S24 Microphone does not record voice

Hi, I have had the S24 for just under 2 weeks now. Everything was fine at first. For some reasons voice recording no longer works. Google assistant, apps that need your voice, WhatsApp voice notes, even the voice recorder app on the phone doesn't record my voice just silence.....

I did have company portal from my work installed and they are checking it isn't blocking anything, but it was fine before.

Anyone have something similar?

Videos, calls....are fine. Permissions are on allow whilst using app and no reason my voice would be ignored like it doesn't exist!

Thanks

You already answered my first question with Permissions.

Is there a separate volume level for your recorder?  Apart from that, I'm clueless.   Report back if you find a solution.

Hi @JazzyPhizzle

My voice recorder is working as expected. I would check permissions again. It could be, that it lost its permissions due to inactivity. You could try to set it to Ask every time, to see if at least it asks for it.

The company portal might well be the reason. They usually add some restrictions to comply with company safety and cybersecurity.

Have you tried booting the phone in Safe mode. That should disable 3rd parties and you can check if a 3rd party application is causing the problem.

This support page shows how to boot in Safe mode.

Of course, the usual clearing cache is another thing to try

Here in the Samsung member app go to the support tab and phone diagnostic and check the mics there.

Also Wipe the cache of the recorder app

Also under phone settings search for microphone acces and make sure it's toggled ON

Thanks. The diagnostic tool has an action on the first mic which is the one of the bottom of the phone. This doesn't record my voice the 2nd one does....

I will look at clearing cache also

Tried rebooting in safe mode but anything that records voice is disabled

The diagnostic tool doesn't allow my voice to be recorded with the bottom mic. Waiting for my work place to confirm tomorrow on their settings with company portal however it didn't impact anything on my previous phone - thanks for your advice

I have updated my first post.

Also consider just simply restarting your phone.

And if you wish resetting just the settings on the phone ( this might affect your work settings as well)

Yep tried all those and they are fine and as they should. I haven't done a factory reset was hoping to avoid this as the last option but feels like I need too
