Smart view is dreadful.

I use an s24 Ultra. I've been casting videos for years without any real problem.
Ever since Smart View appeared as the only way to cast videos to my TV (or any other TV) it has been totally useless. Horribly choppy and lagging video. Unwatchable.
I can use things like BubbleUpnp to cast the old fashioned way, and all my videos appear fine. If I switch to smart view it's back to being total shite.
I'd love to use the native solution but it doesn't work. Unless any of you lot have any bright ideas.
This has been the same with s23 & s24 , multiple TVs , multiple routers.
So please, please, please, don't suggest that I switch things off and on again.

Fingers crossed, that some clever soul has a workaround.

Cheers

Hello @malarky1

I would suggest to send the issue direct to Samsung via your Samsung Members App to see if Samsung can advise accordingly.

If i can be of any further help please don't hesitate to ask  😎

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.
I'm here to help. " This is the way. "

Hi @malarky1

I t is interesting your experience. Smart View is working really well for me. Videos which are considerably big, 200-500 MB for a 3 minutes videos, are playing on my TV smoothy, excellent video and audio.

Do you have enable Chromecast?

Which video player are you using?

If I use the inbuilt video player the image does not fill my TV screen, but it might be a matter of settings. If using VLC, I have total control on the screen ratio.

VLC is an excellent media player, which can play pretty much everything. It is free and it works in Macos, Windows, Linux and Android.

If you do not have Chromecast enable.

Try this:

  • swipe down the screen fully to get the drop down menu.
  • tap the smart view icon to open it.
  • tap the 3 dots menu for settings
  • tap labs
  • toggle enable Chromecast support

Let us know if that helps.

Thanks Reylob.
I have Chromecast enabled but I don't have a Chromecast device.
If I use VLC then the TV isn't available through the cast icon, only through Smart View.
If I use BubbleUpnp then it recognises the TV as a 'renderer' and I can cast in the way I used to cast videos from all my players. Bubble is a bit temperamental though.

Thanks.
That's initially what I tried to do, but then ended up here.
I'll try again...

Samsung smart view is so dreadful. My old Nokia seems to cast flawlessly on a Samsung tv. Perhaps Samsung should consider leaving tha native screen cast from android rather than making enhancements that seem to cause more lag

I found that, connecting my TV to a Bluetooth device solves the issue. Sometimes I just connect it to my Buds and then switch sound output back to TV.

I am thinking of getting a soundbar to use as speakers now. I used to think it was my A72, but I’m on the S25+ now, and it’s still laggy. My TV is 7 Series, 55”.
