Hi guys, i recently bought a S24U on pre-order but am having thermal and battery issues with it.
Every time i launch the camera the phone gets really hot and i lose around 2% battery every minute. I charged the phone to a 100% and tested the camera for nearly 6mins, the battery dropped to 88%.
Am using the phone on UHD and in standard mode for performance. The OS and the apps are up to date.
I tried putting it in light mode hoping to see a difference but in vain, nothing changed. Even on while doing a video call i can see the battery just draining away and the phone gets annoyingly hot. I would appreciate if someone can help me out on this. Thanks

I'm also experiencing the same with my S24. Regret buying it with such an expensive price.

Same issue here on regular S24. Phone couple times per day gets really hot no matter the usage. It can get very hot just lying on the table. It lasts for couple of minutes, draining the battery like crazy, and then it stops as suddenly as it started. Till next time. Every day. I think the problem started when the second big update dropped - in march i think? Couple days ago, when i was driving using navigation and charging the phone at the same time i started to get pop ups saying that the phone must cool down - that's new! Never experienced it before in any phone. It's riddiculous.

None of the proposed solutions helps - switching performance profile, clearing cache partition etc.

I've been experiencing the same overheating issue with my Samsung Galaxy S24, for about 7 weeks so far.

It occurs almost every day, once or multiple times a day.

The screen feels very hot and dedicated apps can indeed show a temperature in the range 40-44°C (104-111°F). When the issue is not occurring, the normal temperature experienced is in the range 28-32°C (84-90°F). 🔥
While the phone is overheating, the battery drains very fast, faster than usual. This is also seen in such dedicated apps which show the battery discharging speed at values between -800mA and -1200mA. When the issue is not occurring, the battery discharging speed has instead values between -30mA and -250mA. 🔋

Most of the time the issue occurs while using mobile Internet rather than WiFi but have also experienced occasional overheating events even at home with the WiFi network connected. 📶

The problem continues even if all the background apps are closed and even if both mobile data and WiFi are manually turned off (thus Internet is disconnected). So, it's not a problem of heavy data being downloaded/uploaded or apps consuming CPU (since all the apps are closed and dedicated apps show low CPU usage anyway).

However, it looks like that the issue disappears (at least temporarily) as soon as the SIM card/s are manually disabled from the SIM Manager menu or when Airplane mode gets enabled, thus completely disconnecting the phone from the mobile operator/s. I have tried that in two different countries (two different SIM cards and phone operators). 🌍🌎

The feeling is that the chip managing the cellular network is not working as expected (Firmware issue? Hardware issue?) and requires to be disconnected from the cellular network to start working again (at least temporarily).
Obviously, a phone reboot resolves the issue too, temporarily.

While using Google Maps navigation, the issue occurs more frequently and evidently. I also noticed the popup warning about the phone needing to cool down. 🗺

I will probably proceed with the hard reset as recommended by the Samsung support team and am already expecting that I'll need to send it to repair (if any actual repair actually exists for this problem, who knows).

I may go back to my older Samsung Galaxy S22.
