I replaced my Galaxy S20+ with the S24+ about 3 weeks ago and noticed that the battery consumption is pretty bad when the phone is on standby. I let the phone sit idle all day, while heavily using my iPhone 11 Pro. Comparatively, the the iPhone has used about 30% while the Samsung about 20% just sitting there for the most part (I did have to take 2 short calls and reply a few texts). It is draining at a minimum of 3.5 - 4% per hour on standby! My S20+ would lose maybe 1 - 2% per hour even after 4 years of heavy use. I could leave my S20+ off of the charger all night and trust that it would still have most of the charge in the morning. This one lost about 20% overnight. Should I return this phone?

Hi @JammasterJ
May I ask have you looked in your Device Care to see if any apps are still using your apps in the background.
There's always background processes going on you can't see for the phone to work as it should.
Features like sleep and deep sleep can help to curb app usage.
AOD can use battery if you have this turned On.
Low network signal can cause the phone to work harder to maintain connection. 5G uses more resources than 4G.
Now there are more things you can tweak on the phone to save on battery which you can find out via a forum search / Google Search however I'm a fan of using as many features as possible that the phone can give me instead of turning things off.
You can also use the optimisation tool found in your Samsung Device Care and you can try clearing the phone's System Partition Cache Files Section.
> Clear Cache Files from the phone's System Partition Section > https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/mobile-devices/how-do-i-clear-the-cache-on-my-device/ You may need to insert your earphones or hook upto a powered On Laptop or use a Tv's USB Port to access the Clear Partition Section. This may help with lag or stutters as this clears the phone of old/unused or broken cache files. There is also a Repair Apps option in the Menu System too.
A Samsung Service Centre can certainly help if required.
If I can be of any further help then please don't hesitate to ask. 😎

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.

I tried pretty much all of that. I contacted AT&T and since I am out of my 14-day return window, I have to go to a local repair shop called ibreakufix to have them test the phone. This seems ridiculous to me. This phone battery should last way longer than my old S20+ even with everything turned on and maxed out. If they don't end up replacing this thing, do you have any suggestions on who else can I contact?

So, as per AT&T, I took it to UBreakiFix. They couldn't find a problem with the battery but said to wait another month and bring it back so they have more data. I asked if I should do a factory reset and they said that won't do anything. Btw, it also rarely ever fast charges. They even said their cord wouldn't get it to fast charge, but advised using an OEM cable. I used the OEM cable this morning and nope. I also noticed the phone does feel a little warm sometimes, and after a 30-40 minute video chat this morning, it was very hot. I miss the days where if you had a problem they would just replace the phone. If I would have known, I would have definitely kept my S20+. I also have an iPhone 11 Pro...I charged it 2 days ago and it was at 20% last night after playing games on it. This thing will lose 30% in 8 hours without even using it! I read the reviews at CNET and some other ones where they tested the battery and got amazing results. I feel like I have a faulty unit and I am just being hung out to dry.

I purchased the new S24+ on February 16, 2024. Battery was working really great, could last a very long time. Now all of a sudden starting from March 5, 2024, my battery is draining at an alarming rate. I might have received a software update a day before. I don't know why it changed in this one day? I feel like now there is something wrong? Why was the battery amazing for just over 2 weeks then not anymore in one day?
