Annoying when you buy a new phone and it is not as good as your older phone.. S24 wifi issues is very disappointing. Apps will not work while connected via wifi anywhere.. got told to turn the 5hz wifi setting off.. am I to tell every home I go to and say that lol.. businesses.. you don't upgrade to downgrade grrrr

I have to say that since i updated google play services as you mentioned, the issue did not come back again.

Lets wait and see...

I also tried a lot of stuf, reset my wifi and bluetooth settings, reset phone, reset in safe mode, deleted a few apps, turned wifi on and off, deleted the 5G connection, added it mannually, changed the "Channel control" to "Automatic" or "36" or what ever option needs to be able to detect your 5G WiFi on your mobile device but nothing of these attempts worked for me so I searched deeper in my router config. (btw, my router is: Asus RT-AC1200G+).

Dona's suggestion is very good. I was thinking to check this ipv6 but something just got in mind, so what I did to solve was to check my router's configuration for WiFi settings, changed some settings then I checked the "Wireless - Filter MAC wireless" and add my SG S24U there in the accepted list because I activated this option, if you have the same issue, then either add you mobile phone there in the MAC list, by adding your MAC address found in your WiFi 5G connection configuration or just turn off this "Wireless - Filter MAC wireless".

But you might also need to check your other WiFi / Wireless configuration on your router as well as checking your ipv6 just like some other members here reported that the ipv6 set to disabled on the router might solve this.

Just keep in mind, please, that your phone is fine, there is no factory defect, because there is a very high chance that some configuration is blocking your WiFi 5G connection, either from router or from an app installed on your phone. Best approach I would recommend is that you first need to determine which is the root cause, so I would suggest to try it with your Router configuration, check everything possible there and if that doesn't work then restart your phone in safe mode and check if there 5G works fine or not,  but if that doesn't work then do a factory reset on your phone and if still doesn't work try to connect your phone to a different 5G wifi network (your friend or a public one etc) and if that still doesn't work then maybe then, just then, you might want to contact Samsung support or your local seller.

Hope this helps,

Cheers.

Unsure if this will help anyone but on my wifi network I made these few changes and it has fixed all my wifi issues

  1. Enable - Use 160 MHz channel for max performance on 5GHz
    1. Some devices that are not compatible may experience lower performance on your network thought.
  2. Enable UPnP
  3. Enable IPv6

I am not seeing any wifi issues any more now. But, should I have needed to do all this? - No, should Samsung make phones that are backwards compatible  - YES!

@montie: I strongly, strongly and 100% disagree with you on the phone being worst phone, because I own this phone and is extremely powerfull, you would be amazed on how much things it does, you can probably only compare it a bit with S23. But I respect your opinion, and I want to say that is just the way you are handle it ... is wrong or not using best approach. S20 uses some older technology which is compatible with some router settings as default, or out-of-the-box, but because S24 uses some new technologies it can no longer be compatible with your older router model as "out-of-the-box" simply because your router is too old for it, so not the other way arround. Your router is fine at the same time it just needs some configuration and adjustments here and there but you probably don't have the needed experience to set the right configuration. The phone, I asure you, is extremely powerfull and smart, if you compare S20 with S24 is like comparing a cat with a lion if I can put it this way. Make sure you check all your router and phone configuration as it has some limitations set, there are some restriction for internet connection usage and check firewall. If you don't have the needed experience, just call someone that does. I asure you, the phone is not at fault here and is working just fine. I also had some connectivity issues with my S24 Ultra when trying to connect on my 5G when, at the same time I was able to use 2G connection just fine on my WiFi router, I did later check the configuration set for my router when it comes to 5G Wifi and and changed the configuration and now issue solved. I say it again, check your router configuration, if you want to check your phone internet speed etc connect your S24 Ultra on a different WiFi or internet, example your friend home Wifi or a restaurant etc but make sure it has strong connection, so don't try a weak WiFi. Is not right or accurate for giving incomplete reviews just because you encounter an issue or difficulty with your S24 Ultra when in fact is the router at fault here, a miss-configuration even if you need to intervine and do it manually.

I agree, the S24U is a very powerful phone, but the wifi issues are really annoying.

Why do you still tell us that the phone is perfectly fine and the router or wifi is the issue? We have analyzed it, Samsung acknowledged it, the fix is only helping partly. So I really do not understand...

That said, i still have issues in Wifi with my S24U. After 2-3 days the ipv6 is lost again...

I installed another Google Play System Update a couple days ago (this time to the July 2024 version) and IPv6 has been really solid since then! I haven't experienced any drops in IPv6 connectivity anymore. Will definitely keep an eye on it, but so far so good.

Hi.. Turning ipV6 off did fix the issue for me. I bought Samsung s24 on 7th Aug 2024. I am amazed it's not fixed yet.

Unfortunately I got excited too quickly. The issue still comes back every now and then. My ticket with Samsung Support through the Members app is still open. The last reply is from July 23rd where they forwarded it to their team. Last time it also took them about a month to reply, so I'll patiently wait for further updates. To be continued...
