Hello,, I've just received my S24 Ultra and compared to my S21 Ultra the colours on the S24 Ultra are washed out and not as Saturated?, I've adjusted all the display settings and still cannot get the colours to match the older S21 Ultra, I've contact samsung uk customer service they went through Smart Tutor and couldn't find anything amiss has anyone else found this to be the same on their S24 ultra? I'm not sure if Samsung UK are aware of this issue? And whether a software update will solve it?, I suspect it's the new Gorilla glass amour glass which is anti-reflective which is great but not at the expense of colour, I'm seriously considering returning the S24 ultra and keeping my S21 Ultra

Have you enabled extra brightness ?

Is extra dim setting disabled ?

Brightness should be similar exept under high light where s24 is better but only when reading hdr content

Here is a video test i just did. Can't tell very well in the video, but the top, S23U, is noticeably brighter and more crisp. If you were to see them with your eyes, you'd return the S24U immediately. (it didn't help that i recorded with iPhone 14Pro Max. j/k)

Video is set to Bright by default, there are only 2 options. Standard and Bright. Extra dim was on but it was also on, on the S23U. The screen settings are Exactly the same for both phones. I have double and triple checked.

All the settings were the same except I turned the brightness up full on both of them. Thats the results. The s24u was noticeably brighter. It's up to you how you compare the two. I don't see much difference comparing them side by side in general with colour and I've had a good look. I'm happy with the display but you guys might disagree, everyone has a subjective opinion.

I wouldn't completely rule out the possibility of the grain being software, similar techniques have been used in some VR headsets to reduce black smearing, and AMOLED panels are pretty infamous for smearing in dark color transitions. I'm still seeing some black smearing when scrolling around in settings, but there's definitely way less of it than my S22. This grain could be the reason why.

Black smearing is another display quirk that many will claim does not happen on their phone, but in reality it has been a thing in every single phone with an amoled panel, including this one.

Extra dim off on both, S24U is insane next to the S23. Too bad the rest of the time the phone is not as bright as the S23U, which is a huge bummer.

IMG_0047.jpegThis is the only time i can get the S24U to be brighter and better looking than the S23U. (On both phones) Full Brightness, Extra dim off, playing a UHD HDR Youtube Video. At no other time can i, or does the S24U become brighter than the S23U.

Just had a reply from the bug report I sent through the members app around 6 days ago talking about the dull display, washed out colours and there being virtually no difference between vivid and natural modes:

'Thanks for letting us know. We're going to pass this on to our experts. Once they find the root of the problem, we'll get back to you'
