Phone: Samsung S24 Ultra
Photos: The following images were taking using the 5x Zoom lens at 12 MP and at 50 MP.
Settings
Camera Application: Image optimisation is set to 'minimum' & scene optimiser is off.
Gallery Application: super HDR is also off.
Following raising the issue with Samsung I was told there is no issue with "incredible S24 Ultra" as:
1. the camera test on *#0*# was fine
2. I cleared the camera app cache
3. Performed a soft reset
4. Ensured phone was running latest software
5. And finally after persisting with questions... Performed a factory reset
All leads to the same result as seen below.
Issue
Aside from the noticble colour shift that occurs when using the 50MP camera.
counter intuitively, when using the 50 MP camera, there is a complete loss of detail within the photos I take.
This can be observed below with some test shots I took just now.
When zooming in on the resulting image, there is a complete loss of detail in the 50MP photo as seen with the barcode below.
Is this a common issue?
Or is my phone faulty?

The only Concensus I have is I won't be buying a Samsung phone again...
Form other threads I posted, one or two people have mentioned that the colour shift is present on the S23U also. So if they haven't fixed it in the past year I don't hold out hope.
My 5 year old Xiaomi Mi Note 10 took better photos and only cost about €300 new.

Just seen the April update which has some camera improvements listed has been released, I'll update and compare again...

The default camera app still uses the wrong sensors. Have not even taken a look at the RAW as I bet it is still broken as hell (container-wise). Night shots do not look better to me, but the exposure and color accuracy in low-light shots for the 12MP and 50MP look closer now.
When will Samsung come out in the open to clearly state what "FIXES" they have implemented in the release notes? Why do I have to go roam the internet to find this out?

Left is 12MP 1x, right is 50MP 1x (cropped to match). Same sensor, the f1.7 200MP was used to take both. As you can see the color saturation on the 50MP has been increased. Why since the same sensor was used, beats me, but the colors of the 12MP are true to what my eyes see.

Pretty much unless in good light conditions and you really need that 50MP. Having to turn on/off the AP is a pain in the..back.

100% agree with you.
Event after 5 months from launch , they have not fixed the issue.
We should brand s24ultra as Lemon of phone camera industry , one of the worst.

Reach out to customer care to discuss this issue and they simply said that phone is doing what it is supposed to do and they can't help.
Worst camera. My S19 and s21 taken better picture. They should stop worry about launching new phone every week and focus to resolve this issue. Apparently , all S23, S22 also have same issue.

Hi. Where can I find the "Adaptive pixel" setting?
