Switching To iPhone

I've had an s24ultra for about 8months, and it was super expensive (like 1200pounds), but tbh i'm not that impressed

coming from an a54 as my last phone, it was a huge upgrade but it still lacks so much, not feature-wise but more like it just doesnt deliver as much as i thought 

first off, using the HEVC file format for videos makes it rly jittery, which meand i HAVE to use H.264 which means no LOG videos

plus, camera in general just isn't crazy. first off the 3x telephoto is rly weak, low res and pretty bad quality in anything less than perfect lighting. the 5x tho is rly rly good especially for portraits, then the 1x also is incredible. 

the ultrawide is decent but it feels like a lot smoother looking than the sharp look of the main lens

tbh the only thing I'd say samsung does better than iPhone camera-wise is portraits imo, and maybe (sometimes) colours can look more vivid when taking photos of landscapes

so, what about software?

i mean, its alr, but ever since Apple dropped iOS26, one ui just looks dated.

kinda crazy to say, but i absolutely loved using the new iPhone 17, but I'm talking about the base iPhone17, and it had a better colour-tone on the camera than my s24U, smoother and more visually appealing software, but the craziest thing? gaming

gaming's been super mixed on the S24U, cos on paper its a great chip, but after doing loads of gaming, it's fine, but inconsistent.

so on all these games: Minecraft, Fortnite, AsphaltUnite, War Thunder, there is so much frame lag. like every 5seconds the screen will tear and the frames will drop to about 5fps for a couple seconds, and its really really bad. even sometimes in Roblox

this could be software optimisation, I'm fully aware of that, cos the iPhone 17(base lol) was so much smoother. like it wasnt at the same peak frame rate, it was maybe 20fps behind but it was way more consistent

so, as soon as my monthly contract ends with my s24U, i'm pretty sure I'ma switch to the iPhone cos my brother has one and its sooooooo nice, the bezels r way thinner, the phone feels and looks nicer imo, but one thing I'll defo miss is the s-pen

the 1 thing that rly adds to all this is my batter recently has been so bad on my phone, like after 2 minutes, i dropped from 17percent to 14 percent just scrolling spotify

I don't know what you may have done to improve things.
But quite often battery issues are due to an app or theme that's needs updating or its usage looking into.
Good guardians app can assist on what's using the battery.
Think with cameras, its a bit hit or miss with the S24 Ultra. The cameras on mine were terrible.
I have the S25 Ultra and the difference is night and day how much better they are
I remember myself and @Piper123 comparing out 24 ultras to the new phones and remarking on yhe improvements

The iPhone is a very capable device, though I find the camera software on ios 26 to be a bit annoying
Sometimes I find the results of the photos to be not quite right as well
Ios 26 is much better than the ios of old. But to me still needs work
The battery life between the iPhone 17 Pro I have and my S25 Ultra are about the same
Think my Pixel 10 Pro is marginally better that the pair of them.

I would recommend you look into the S25 Ultra to see if you can tell the difference yourself.
The S24 Ultra although never admitted. Some including mine definitely had hardware problems. So I wouldn't dismiss Samsung because of the S24 Ultra took quickly

Each to their own, appreciate your issues, hope the switch works for you 🙏 just be careful as you end up in a 24 mth or longer contract so make sure you go beyond the, it looks better.

yo huge thx for the insanely detailed comment bro, huge shoutout to you, but yeah, i have used the s25ultra, my mom has one, its alr, but still my brother's iPhone is so smooth and aluring, plus all my friends have iPhones soo its rly a hard choiice cos i still absolutely love samsung to death 😭

Bit more complicated to say one is better than the other
Think ghe AI in the Google software needs work. But I can see where mobile photography is heading
