I do wonder why a lot of reviewers haven't pointed this out, the general consensus is that these things are all deal breakers, for photography at least.

The only reason I'm holding out is Samsung listen to user feedback & there are 7 years support 🤷

The camera has plenty room for improvements. Saying that, this is a common occurrence every year at launch time.
The S22 series got a huge upgrade on January for the camera on top of the monthly one. So, Samsung will continue to improve camera performance.
I have found that the quality could be excellent with great light conditions, but it could also be horrendous. There is a lack of consistency when it comes to the quality of the pictures. Photo mode can kill all the detail and have a disproportionate amount of noise. Portrait mode, can show incredible amount of detail.
The Raw format is too Raw 🤣, it needed a bit more cooking. I have had issues opening them with Darktable and Rawtherapy. Saying that, the format from the Camera Pro mode is different from the Expert Raw app. I was able to open a raw file from the Pro mode but not from Expert Raw and it was not very usable.
The silver line is that there are good probabilities that Samsung will improve the camera performance.
Technology enthusiast, but not related to any technological company.

However the 24 can produce some good photos with the 5x, but again this can be hit and miss.
Portraits can also be hit and miss, with too much of the area being blurred out and hair not being as defined as it was on the 23.
I really do hope Samsung release further software updates to address the camera, as this phone deserves so much more.

I keep taking pictures with the Note 20 Ultra and the S24U from the same position and using same camera settings, and every time the Note 20 Ultra has better framing. S24U has better colours and better light etc but the framing is way better on the Note 20 Ultra.
