Dear all
A few days ago, I bought an S24 Ultra.
In general, after transferring the data from my old phone, everything works correctly.
However, what I can’t get to work is the fingerprint recognition.
It works if I don’t use a screen protector, but I’ve tried three different ones, and the results haven’t been good:
First, I used the JETech Full Coverage Screen Protector for Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra 5G 6.8 Inches, Tempered Glass with Easy Installation Frame, HD Clear—a similar type of glass to what I’ve used on other phones. Result: It does NOT work, even after changing the sensor resolution.
Then, I tried the Spigen Glas.tR EZ Fit Screen Protector for Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, 2 Units, Easy Installation, High Definition, 9H Hardness. Even though it says it’s specially designed for the S24 Ultra, it ALSO does not work.
It recognizes normal touches without any problem, but NOT fingerprint recognition.
I also tried the KoasVonson Matte Screen Protector for Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, 2 Pieces, Hydrogel Anti-Glare TPU Flexible Film, Fingerprints, Anti-Glare [Not Tempered Glass]. It works somewhat, but I’m concerned that it might not sufficiently protect the screen.
What’s going on with the S24 Ultra’s fingerprint sensor? I thought the technology had been improved, but the result is that it only works without a screen protector.
What screen protector can I use?

Spending over €1,000 on a flagship smartphone only to discover that the fingerprint sensor doesn’t work properly is unacceptable. In today’s world, where banking apps, secure logins, and identity verification rely heavily on biometric authentication, this isn’t just an inconvenience — it’s a serious flaw. A premium device should deliver premium reliability. Anything less feels like a breach of trust.

If it works without screen protector then the issue is with incompatibile protector

Shouldn't Samsung issue some kind of official certification for screen protectors that are truly compatible with its devices?
Right now, many protectors are being sold on platforms like Amazon as “compatible” with specific Samsung models, but after trying three different ones, none have worked properly. I’ve been using screen protectors for years on various phones without any issues, which makes me think the problem isn’t with the accessories, but possibly with a change in Samsung’s specifications.
If that’s the case, why hasn’t this been clearly communicated to consumers? An official certification—like other brands already offer for accessories—would help avoid confusion, unnecessary expenses, and frustration. It’s far too easy to keep blaming the protector without offering real solutions. That doesn’t seem like a serious or responsible stance from a brand that prides itself on quality and customer commitment.
Especially when this issue is already public and widely discussed online, it’s surprising that Samsung hasn’t addressed it more transparently.

There are millions of phone accessories being sold every ***** day, which makes it very easy to make any accessory issue known thanks to Social media. There is a whole third party accessory industry and companies have come up huge thanks to making quality third-party accessories. The S24U fingerprint issue is well known by now. Samsung being Scamsung, they did so little for the famous green line issue that I have no hopes that they will look into this. And it's not some cheap local screen guard. I bought an expensive Spigen guard, didn't work at all. And the face unlock is only half as good as my wife's face unlock on her iPhone 15.

If screen protector manufacturer claims it is compatible and it is not then take it up with them. Others and myself included use screen protector with no issues whatsoever

The first one I tried was the JETech Screen Protector, then the Spigen Glas.tR EZ from Amazon for €26—much more expensive than other protectors. I also tested it with a Hydrogel Film for Samsung, but that didn’t work well either and offers little protection.
What’s most unacceptable is that Samsung provides no support on the matter and simply washes its hands of it.
I don’t believe this is the way to build customer loyalty.
