My phone switches from silent to ring at random times and I can't figure out how to stop it. It happens any time of day, there's no rhyme or reason and it even happens in the middle of the night while I'm sleeping. It's not being moved and nothing is touching it except its stand. My last Samsung did it as well.

Hello 👋 @annewmetis and Welcome to the Samsung Community Forum.
I assune you've nkt set any routines up.
You could try >
1. Try a forced reboot by holding down the volume down key and power button simultaneously for more than 7 seconds to restart it. When your phone resets, you will feel it vibrate.
2. Clear Cache Files from the phone's System Partition Section > https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/mobile-devices/how-do-i-clear-the-cache-on-my-device/ You may need to insert your earphones or hook upto a powered On Laptop or use a Tv's USB Port to access the Clear Partition Section. This may help with lag or stutters as this clears the phone of old/unused or broken cache files.There is also a Repair Apps option in the Menu System too { Possibly excluding the s²⁴ Series of phone's }
3. Safe Mode > https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/mobile-devices/how-to-start-my-galaxy-device-in-safe-mode/ turns off downloaded apps and themes etc which may highlight an app or theme that's causing conflict. Alternatively long press the power off button and then long hold on Turn Off to get to Safe Mode.
If i can be of any further help please don't hesitate to ask 😎

It does this fresh out of the box with no addons or apps of any kind added.

Hi, @annewmetis. In addition to what @BandOfBrothers has suggested, I'd recommend removing and reinserting your SIM card to see if this helps reset and stabilise the network connection (just in case that's a contributing factor here):
Please also see if there's a setting that needs to be modified in Sounds and vibration:
Go to Settings > Sound and vibration > If Temporary mute is toggled on, you can toggle this off, or you could extend the time for which your phone is muted.
There are more steps and some other Settings' suggestions provided in the guide below:
Please let us know how you get on.
