Outlook email notifications in sleep mode

Hi,

I have the Samsung S24 and I have searched through the forums and online and I couldn't quite find the correct answer to my query. I previously owned the Pixel 4a and 6a phones. When the phone was in sleep mode, you could tap once on the screen to wake the screen prompting you to put in password or fingerprint sensor and any new emails from outlook a bried description was showing in sleep mode before unlocking the phone.

On the S23, from what I can see this isn't possible to do. It only shows a tiny icon in sleep mode like an envelope showing new message but not the subject tile and bried description in sleep mode. Could someone confirm am I correct that this isn't possible to do with Samsung S24 or even in S23?

Thanks.

Ajay

@ajay41: To begin with, please head to Settings > Notifications > Lock screen notifications > On > Show content > Tap the cog to the right, and toggle on the relevant apps (or toggle on 'All apps').

Now, when you receive a notification while the phone is locked/in an idle state, simply tap on the notification icon to show the details, which will be revealed via the drop down notification panel view.

I hope this helps.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I have done the above but no outlook email notifications in sleep mode showing. The email only shows in the notification panel view only after I unlock the phone using the drop down notification panel view. In the google pixel phones I owned you could also view them in the notifications panel whilst the phone was locked and in sleep mode simply by tapping to wake screen before unlocking the device if that makes sense.

Update: I've managed to view the notification panel including the new emails whilst the phone is still locked. I double tapped on the screen in sleep mode to wake the screen and then I tapped once on the notification icons in the centre and this brought up the notification panel view for apps including new emails so it does work. So the only difference really that I can see with the Samsung S24 is that there is a secondary process whereby you have to tap the screen again on the notification icons in the middle to enable viewing of the notification panel view (i.e. a total of 3 taps on the screen) whereas with the Google pixel phones one tap on the screen to wake and the notification panel view is visible straight away. Ultimately it does work but more processes involved.

Many thanks.
