Hi,
Am i missing something? Ive been reading about a new "Network notifications" toggle switch, or at least a new "mobile network security" section after the upgrade, im seeing neither... AI answers are conflicting as it says the S24Ultra does have the modem to support IRadio HAL v3, which is does, it also states S24U requires X75 modem, whoch it also has.
Open a new tab and paste in what it states from the 1st tab and it contradicts itaelf by saying the information is incorrect or include mistakes...

So which is it? Why aren't i see either of these new updates?

TIA

I actually went down the same rabbit hole. Only devices that launched with android 16 get IRadio HALv3. Google doesn't allow older devices to update this.

So if your device updated to android 16, you will not get network notifications. I'm annoyed too but google literally prevents phone manufacturers from updating some systems. Long story as to why.

Physically yes the phone probably supports it. But since it never launched with android 16/one ui 8, it will never get network notifications because it cannot update IRadio HAL.

Also just want to say, I want to be wrong. I want samsung to update it and give us the feature. But they won't 😞 because google doesn't allow updating of that specific thing

Sounds like we've both been down the same holes, i've read all the same things you have it seems, i just dont get the logic or reasoning behind it. My S24 Ultra isn't exactly old, we're told support for 7yrs, n almost a yr after, google, not Samsung are restricting us? I dont get it. How do they let this happen? Whats the point in a partnership if google can dictate how a Samsung device can be managed after making such a bold claim to offer us 7yrs of updates? More like 7yrs of what we deem support without lining our pockets by finding every possible way to make the consumer spend more by forcing to upgrade.

Needless to say am not happy. But i also wont be upgrading. I like my S24Ultra and have specifically chosen not to upgrade to the S25 due to the things they took away, no real improvements to soeak of in my eyes. So yeah. Stupid decision all round

It's basically to allow many more years of updates. The software that touches the hardware stays the same so qualcom and other companies don't need to keep supporting it. They make 1 software version, then samsung updates it for 7 years. Downside is any feature that requires an update to that hardware component cannot be added.

So we get 7 years of updates instead of 2-3, but any features that requre updates to hardware components are skipped since the chip manufacturers will not supply years of updates for every chip
