As above really, I swapped from my note 20 last night to my new s24..... did all the swapping and was made aware of whatsapp having to be transfered separately, I swapped whatsapp over when the phone then allowed me to but when I went into my gallery this morning the thumbnails and pics look corrupted.... (grey square with a pic and an !)

BUT all the media is there in the whatsapp app, I don't want to loose photos I've been sent by family members if there becomes a problem with the app

All new media is saving as originally set up before so that's not an issue

Any help would be appreciated

Hi @Members_71YZFBo

If it is in the App, it is in the phone.

Did you backup WhatsApp to Google cloud from the old phone before activating WhatsApp on the new phone?

The steps are backup WhatsApp to Google cloud, including media, install WhatsApp on new phone, when you start WhatsApp for the first time on the new phone check that you are restoring from the cloud and all including media should appear in the new app and gallery.

if you have .nomedia file on the WhatsApp media location then it will not show on the gallery.

On WhatsApp -> Settings -> Chats -> Chat settings -> Media visibility ( check this is toggle on)

If you need further help please ask away.

By the way, when restoring WhatsApp the media is downloaded in the background. So, you will need to have WiFi or Mobile data on. If no WiFi then check that WhatsApp is allow to download media over mobile data.
