Help with usb headphones

Hi, when I've plugged in my usb headphones then press play on my audible book, I have to take the headphones out and push them back in again to make the sound play through the headphones rather than the phone speakers.

Does anyone know if I can stop that?

If I am anywhere quiet it disturbs other people if I forget to turn the volume down first.

@Members_30siJ2r which headphones are you using ? Samsung or ³rd party ones. 

Wired or wireless.

Obviously do double check your relevant settings @Lindosbay 

You could also try > Settings > Apps > Tap the 3 lines with the downward facing arrow, to the right of 'Your apps' > Show system apps (toggle this on) > OK > Scroll down, and tap on 'USBSettings' > Storage > Clear cache > Clear data, then restart your device.

I've done all that. It's still not worked.
I can be listening to something on YouTube, then change to Instagram and I have to pull out the usb and reinsert it, because the sound reverts back to the speakers every time I change apps.
I do hope someone can help, it is very frustrating.
I do need to use wired headphones for a very good reason, wireless headphones just wouldn't be possible.
I must admit I haven't linked my wireless headphones to my phone yet. They are third-party, not samsung, so fingers crossed they work, OK?

Wireless headphones should work fine, for me they do.
