Hi, on my S23U I had a specific sound set for incoming messages.  I use Google message and not Samsung app.  I'm just setting up my S24U and cannot see option to set specific sound.  I attach two screen shots.  One is the notification app screen for google messenger on the S23U.  You can see the selection 'Notification categories'.  This is where you select a specific incoming sound for texts.  The second screen shot is from my S24U - note the lack of this option.

The Configure in Messages takes you back to the app but there is nowhere in app settings to set incoming message sound.

Can anyone help?

It's been changed to 'notification categories' now.  Click on the notification category inside of each app to choose the notification type/sound you want.

Like other posters in this thread, I am having issues getting a specific notification sound for when texts are received in Google Messages.
On my previous phone, a OnePlus 8, I had it set up so it played the Nokia SMS message in morse code, it was so easy to set up.
I then decided to switch to a Samsung Galaxy S25, and transferred all the data/Apps over using Samsung Switch.
Could I find how to get a specific Sound to play when receiving SMS messages in Google Messages? No!
So I downloaded Samsung Messages, lo and behold I could do what I wanted, so easy. However, I do not like Samsung's version that much, and then I find it is recommended, by Samsung, to use Google's version. So, I know there must be a way to get a specific Notification sound to play in Google, so I searched Samsung Members for an answer, and stumble upon this thread. So I follow various instructions in this thread to find how to set a specific sound for Google Messages. Here is what I did.

Following Andrew D71's Message I get the 'Notification Categories' to appear in the settings for Google Messages as follows:

Go to 'Phone Settings'
            'Notifications'
            'Advanced Settings'
and toggle ' Manage Notifications for each App'

Then I went to Google Messages and went to Message Settings where I selected:
            'Notifications'
'Notification Categories' (which had appeared after following Andrew's instructions)
            'Other Notifications'
'Sound' - which allows you to select a unique sound for this App (or so I thought).

Went to test the sound, the one I selected for this App does not play, instead I get the original Notification sound which is the default Galaxy one!
I notice that, it would appear, Google Messages has been modified for use with Samsung. Why, oh why, does it have to be so difficult? It worked great with OnePlus, and as much as I love my new S25, it makes me wish I'd stayed with OnePlus and bought a 13!

So, has anyone any idea how I get a unique notification to play for an incoming Google Message SMS message?

OK, Stand down, as is always the way, as soon as I posted the above message I carried out another search and found the answers in a post by Andrew L (moderator) in a message from over a year ago.

Referring to my previous message, where I went to the setting in Google messages instead of going to 'Other Notifications', go to 'Incoming Messages', then selct 'Sound' and choose the Notification sound you prefer. And viola! it worked (for me).

It really shouldn't be this hard, that'll be several hours of my life I'll not get back, and at 70 years of age I can't afford that lost time!!!! 😂

I see this was in January and several comments say there is an update coming soon to fix it.  It's June, did I miss the fix?
