Where is the phone located when this happens? Is the phone antenna in an open view and good location to receive satellite signals ?
In fact in my daily job I work with navigation and GPS. So I know a bit about that. Here are a few facts.
GPS receiver needs a minimum of 4 satellite signals to make a position fix. Typically there are a lot more available, although if the phone is in a bad location, pocket, or the antenna is pointing downwards to the ground then it makes this increasing hard.
Ideally the phone should be held with the antenna upwards pointing and with a clear view.
Is it in a case ? Does it still have the same problem when the case is removed ?
If you want to know what is actually happening with the GNSS signals to your phone then there is an app called GPSstatus that can be downloaded for free from Google play.
This gives an azimuth plot of all received signals from GPS, Galileo and glonass. This may help to bebug why you are unable to get a position fix.
