Sometimes when I open my gallery I find a whole lot of old photos, all duplicated under one day. So I have photos from 2020,2021 etc all showing under the 24th April 2024, for example. If I use the "delete duplicates" function in the gallery, it looks like it's deleting the old pictures rather than the new duplicate, as I still have lots of old pictures all under the 24th April 2024. Is this happening to anybody else? Could it be the One Drive sync or WhatsApp backup? Haven't had this issue with any other phone.

What you could do is select a picture, then swipe up on it. You'll then be able to see where the picture is stored. It may give you a hint. Maybe you've got a copy stored internally and a copy on OneDrive.

I'm experiencing the exact same issues. I've only had this Samsung for a few months changing from another Android phone. All my picture on my old phone never did this. I used the feature on Samsung that allowed me to swap everything over. Many weeks went by and everything was OK. Until I opened my gallery and all my old photo duplicated themselves, and was under a new date of that date it happened. I manually delete them all then a week or 2 goes by anfmd bam! The exact same old photo duplicate themselves.  You mentioned WhatsApp. I'm not 100% sure but I do feel these pictures that duplicate are WhatsApp pictures sent via chat within the app. If this is the case, how do we stop it I wonder?

When using "Smart Switch", it was not so smart when dealing with WhatsApp data. Among others, many photos and videos ended up in the wrong order, because migrated with the transfer date instead of its original date.

Then, I also realized that there were duplicate WhatsApp files. Though it is not  a solution for the recurring problem above, and has not been a solution for the WhatsApp files problem I have, I found Samsung has some solution for removing duplicates:

I haven't found a solution. Just now it's duplicated the same old pictures. These pictures are what I sent through WhatsApp on my old phone. I never tried clearing the cache, not sure how that will work so we'll see. The previous uploader means to go into you setting and them your app. Your gallery app is located in there. Click in that app and you scroll down to see storage. In there you can clear your cache.

I have the exact same problem. Around 200 photos and videos get copied to today's images in the Gallery around once every 2 weeks. Bit rubbish.
