This happened to me for the first time this morning. I turned my phone off last night. When I turned it on this morning, every photo had a duplicate. Now my internal storage is almost full because of it. It would take me hours to delete each one. I'm curious to how to get them gone instantly. I went to the file folder and clicked on duplicate files, but it says I have none to delete.

Most of the dubbel pictures come from Google Photos. So to remove them you go in to google photo press on your account picture on the top right and scroll down to the free up space Button it will remove the dubbeld pics for you.

I did give up but as this seems to be a regular weekly occurrence. I've come back to search once again on a fix. At first I thought it might have something to do with whatapp, as these were all the pictures uploaded on there but I'm now thinking not all we're on whatapp. Plus these pictures are not on my whatapp chats anymore since I swapped the phone. I started to think, is this Google photos instead, only why would Google photos be dumping these images on my phone, especially when these images are already on my phone storage. I thought Google only backed uo you phone images to the Google cloud not the other way round.
I don't want to delete the images from Google but I do want to stop this duplicating from happening. It's 490 pics it's doing it to, so a lot of deleting ahead

I have also been facing this very issue since my S21 and now it's still happening on my new S25 phone too after transferring my data. For me, it's usually about every 3/4 weeks it will duplicate about 600 of the same photos/videos, seemingly from Whatsapp media, from around the end of 2021 and before. I have previously had an issue with my Whatsapp media not showing up on my laptop (as seen on my recent posts on my profile), but I discovered they were being stored within some other area of my phone within a rabbit hole of different folders than the usual folder used. But, I still have not found a solution to the duplication issue, and I have no backups enabled, especially on my gallery or Google Photos.
