Hello,

I am resetting my phone using the recovery mode, a.k.a Hard reset, will this delete my esim which is configured in the phone?

Also, after the hard reset, will the esim (incase if present) be activated or i need to visit the network service provider to get it activated?

Performing a hard reset (also known as a factory reset) on your phone usually gives you an option to keep or delete your eSIM profiles.
Here's a breakdown:
* Will it delete my eSIM?
* Generally, no, not automatically. Most modern smartphones (both iOS and Android) will prompt you during the factory reset process to ask if you want to keep your eSIMs.
* On iOS (iPhones): You'll typically see an option like "Erase Data and Keep eSIMs" or "Delete eSIMs and Erase Data." If you intend to continue using the phone, you should select the option to keep your eSIMs.
* On Android devices: There's often a checkbox, usually unchecked by default, that asks if you want to erase your eSIM(s). If you leave this unchecked, your eSIM(s) will not be erased.
* Important Note: If you perform the reset through recovery mode (using physical buttons) rather than through the phone's settings menu, some sources suggest that it might automatically delete eSIMs. However, most information indicates that the eSIM is stored on a separate, more secure part of the hardware that is not typically wiped during a standard factory reset, even from recovery mode. The safest approach is always to use the "Erase All Content and Settings" option within your phone's settings, as it provides the explicit option to preserve your eSIM.
* After the hard reset, will the eSIM be activated or do I need to visit the network service provider?
* If you choose to keep your eSIM profiles during the hard reset, your eSIM should remain activated and your mobile plan should work once you set up your phone again. You typically won't need to visit your network service provider.
* If you accidentally or intentionally delete your eSIM profile during the reset, then yes, you will need to contact your network service provider to get a new eSIM profile. They may provide a QR code to scan or guide you through the process of reactivating your service.
In summary: When performing a hard reset, pay close attention to the prompts on your screen and choose the option to keep your eSIMs if you wish to retain your mobile service without needing to contact your provider.
