I got nosey and checked what I'd get trading in my S24U and the discount code and i found out I can get the S25 for £530 which tbf isn't bad however I can trade a contract phone in so even if I wanted the phone I'd be unable to trade my phone in and as I said in this and previous posts. I'm not upgrading I was interested in the discounts I'd get 😂

You can trade in a contract phone. However, please note that all remaining payments on the device you’re trading in are your responsibility.

Which means you will still have to pay monthly instalments for old device you traded in and one off payment for new device.

Yes, you will still have to pay monthly instalments for your contract phone until you repay for the device or your contract ends, or if you want to terminate contract early and repay remaining balance in 1 off payment for old device.

On top of that you will have to pay one off payment for the new device which in your case 530£ for s25 ultra.

I am not sure this is strictly true. Maybe the link from the samsung trade in program, but not wirh contract phones from carriers.

My understanding is that when you have a contract on a phone hardware, it is not actually yours to trade or sell, until it has been paid off.

In a similar way to a car lease or a rental agreement with a balloon payment, the actual hardware is still owned by the company until you make your final payments.

Of course you can arrange terms to upgrade early with the carrier or to pay off the item. But I think if you were mid contract and decided to either trade in the device you are in an agreement with, or sell on ebay for example... then it is not your phone to sell.

I could be wrong but this is my understanding although I haven't had a contract phone for a number of years. Maybe things have changed 🤔

I've checked with Vodafone now and I'm not seeing anything on it. I'm heading into Bradford City Centre soon so I'll stop by and ask when I'm there and get back to you.

It is worth the question. Perhaps these days anything is possible. But I would be surprised if they were to agree.

If you intention on the other hand is to continue your contract with Vodafone and simply slot your sim in your new phone then i am sure that is feasible.

But to trade in a phone with 'existing finance' wouldn't pass the checks I doubt.

Most of these phones would be moved onto recycling companies for resale and they wouldn't be able to if the IMEI and phone checks show an existing debt on the phone.

Let us know how you get on

As long as device is older then 6 months and it's still your responsibility to make payments, also best to check with carrier also. 1737636351042.jpg

Worth asking. I'm mainly doing this for future purposes nothing to do with now. My device is 4 months old and any and all trade ins are off the table for me right now. I'm just testing the waters. If Vodafone are able to do a trade in dirctly and allow me to continue the contract on the S25 Ultra it maybe worth the upgrade but that's the only reason I'd see any reason to upgrade at all. As I said ill ask in a Vodafone shop in Bradford City Centre soon.
