BRAND NEW S24 DEAD

Picked up a brand new S24 today and tried to turn the phone on tonight to start the switch over process 

The phone does not go past the 'powered by Android' screen

It came up once with an Android Recovery screen and now is just stuck on the powered by screen 

I've tried the vol down/lock button for 10sec, restarted the phone but got stuck on the same screen 

Any suggestions? Planning on taking it back tomorrow morning if no one has a magic fix

Leave it on charge for a few hours.
They normally come with some charge.
Did you get it from a reputable retailer?

Return it if it dead or faulty you don't want to leave it too long if faulty

Yeah came with 53% 

I couldn't safely leave it on charge, it got so hot I couldn't even pick it up & got even hotter being off charge. There is something seriously wrong with it 

Have put the phone outside in a safe location and will be returning first thing tomorrow morning

I'd definitely recommend using a decent retailer. Some deals maybe nice and cheap. But you can run into all sorts of issues.
Sounds like that phone is either not genuine or probably not actually new.
