I prefer Samsung Wallet for that same reason. You need to approve the transaction with your fingerprint.
NFC has a short range, it is not as scary as it seems, but I am the paranoid type when it comes to money, so the use of the fingerprint.
By the way, the credit cards details are safe. The card details are not passed even when paying to the reader. The wallet creates a virtual card for it without passing your card details to the retailer's terminal.
I have been using Samsung Pay/Wallet on my phone and watch and I prefer it to Google's

The use of a digital wallet is recommended as a way to protect against skimmers and shimmers, because the card details are not passed.
I am not trying to convince you to leave NFC on, I just want to make clear that paying with Samsung wallet or any reputable digital wallet is secure and a way of protecting against this type of credit/debit card fraud.

I don't use Sansung wallet on my s24, but i do use Google wallet. Just downloaded BA boarding passes and they prompted to save to Samsung wallet. It was successful, but why didn't it offer Google wallet?
Last flight was on SingaporeAir and that boarding card went straight to Google wallet. Very strange.
