YouTube battery drain & overheating issues

The YouTube app causes my Samsung phone to overheat after a random amount of time. Since I can’t uninstall and reinstall the app, clearing the cache and storage or force stopping it only provides a temporary fix. This issue seems to be specific to the YouTube app, as it only started happening in the past few weeks. As a YouTube Premium subscriber, this makes the app nearly unusable.

Didn't manage to test it much recently. But I felt that the latest update helped a little bit with the issue. But yeah - it's embarrassing. Samsung support told me to contact YouTube - but there's no way to contact them directly.

Turning battery saving on on these phones do not work. Youtube is killing these phones and youtube only! I've written youtube and many other people have as well and youtube just sends you to their tip center for tips like, "turn screen brightness down, lower resolution " and so on. Well I've got all settings lowered and it still drains the battery and and phone gets so hot! This is proof youtube is not planning to fix this issue nor is samsung! Only youtube is doing this! Only thing that will maybe happen is if we all quit using stupid youtube. Then maybe youtube will fix the problem.  Start using alternative sites. Maybe then youtube will maybe care

Mine is not set for HD. Everything is set at low settings. It still happens.  This isn't the issue.

No that's not the same at all. More like you'd have to cut your ac off because it sucks power from your 500hp engine.

I keep having this issue too and have had this issue for years on various phones. It's a Youtube app issue. Google is clearly uninterested in fixing it.

Yes - very frustrating indeed 😞
