My wife's swopped to S23 Ultra from IPhone 13 pro , we backed up iphone , backed up WhatsApp, used smart switch via cable to transfer from iPhone to s23 ultra but WhatsApp messages have only transferred upto 19 Dec 22 ? Nothing from yesterday back to then so she's lost 2 months ths worth of messages ?
If we delete WhatsApp and set up again will it give the option to set up from recent back up as we came an iPhone?
Thanks .

To be clear, you backed up WhatsApp from within WhatsApp, correct?

They do, I always backup before transferring over. When I setup again on new phone or asks if you want to restore list of back up, select latest date and it restore from Google

With iPhone maybe it's different?

There's a peculiar thing with WhatsApp where transferring from ios to android and the other way
For some reason the app developers can't or won't let the latest backup data to transfer.
Last time I did this. Myself, I lost two years of WhatsApp messages.
Not sure why they can't sort it out.
There is a way, but too long winded for me to bother about

To take more control of your backup operations, you need a third-party app.

Try using "My Backup Pro".
This my favourite backup app.

I have found it to be an incredibly effective backup solution/tool when carrying out various geek-only type of projects and procedures such as rooting, etc.

With this app, you can configure the backup procedure to your needs.
You can also choose what to restore from any backup file you create with the app.

I believe there is a free version, but I have only used the paid version, which gives you far greater control over your backups.
You can also store backups on, and of course retrieve them from your computer.

If properly used, your entire backup will always be safe and fully available to restore should you so wish.

This is NOT an advert!
I am simply recommending an app that I use and could be of use to you.

Take care. 🙂
