So, Samsung seem to have updated and broken, quickshare.
Before, I'd click on video files, click share, it would say UPLOADING, and I'd copy the link, send in an email and the files could be downloaded.

Now, when I click share, it comes up with 'scanning nearby', NOTHING about uploading.

If you click on the qr code, it says copy url BUT when you click to go on the link, there's NO option to download the files!

I'm using this to send video files to housing about ongoing asb issues.
They need to be able to download them!

White screen is my friend's Z-flip 3 that's still working same.
Black screen is what my S23 Ultra is now showing

Samsung, what are you doing?? You've broken something that was working fine

I have to disagree with you there @Joeeye. The intention of the link sharing was to send files to be downloaded by any device. It was in the keynote when it was introduced, if I remember correctly. The intention was always to be able to download such files.

@Ziddy Maybe your files hadn't finished uploading yet which is the reason there was no option to download at the time. I've clicked on your link and the option to download is present at the bottom of the page.

Files had uploaded fine.
No option for download yesterday for anyone.
Still no download for ME, that was there before.
You can see from the 2 screenshots, they've changed it.
It just doesn't seem to be working as well now

I still have the option to download your file. Also, the link sharing works the same as before but they have unified the options. When you click to share via QR code, it creates a link which you can choose to copy instead. The files are uploaded in the background when this is selected and can take a little time depending on the size.Screenshot_20230828_132210_Quick Share.jpg

It's just very strange that it wasn't working yesterday and it DOESN'T give me the option to actually download my own stuff

What do you mean it doesn't give you the option to download your own stuff? You have the option to download as well if you follow your own link so maybe I've misunderstood what you meant.
I certainly could download my own files if I click on the link I've shared.

Ah I see what you mean now. You need the link that you shared to download. You can only download from the link that you shared. It doesn't make sense to download from the device you shared so I guess this is the reason they removed it.

Your screenshot is just a history of what you shared.

Right, this is really weird.
I shared video with my friend, then sent it back to myself.
1st video has no download (the one I shared)
The 2nd HAS download, one she sent me.
NEITHER are opening in a broswer.
I've posted my OWN link into browser, THAT offers download.

It never did this before

For whatever reason, I've noticed, it's opening in quickshare NOT browserScreenshot_20230828_161232_Quick Share.jpgScreenshot_20230828_161242_Quick Share.jpg

The first video you sent will have no download for you because it is the device which you shared from. It creates a record of the file sent but the link is not present because it's not needed on that device.

The second one is the one shared to you so you WILL be able to download it because you are accessing the link shared with you.

You WILL be able to download from your own link if you paste that into a browser because that is the link that is shared and it points to the files which are temporarily stored on a server (That's the way it has always been).

When you access via the link you are accessing as a target. When you send from your device, that device is not the target so therefore there is NO option to download the files to it.

Hopefully that makes a bit more sense.

It didn't used to work like this though.
If I shared a link, I'd click on it and I could download.

They've obviously changed something coz NONE of the links are opening in a browser, they're just sending me to quickshare.
There, I can download what I've been sent.
If I paste my link into a browser download is there.

No idea why it's defaulting to quickshare screen instead of opening in a browser
