My Samsung Galaxy-S-23 Phone Not Connecting with Laptop After Windows 11 Update

Hello everyone,

I hope you're all doing well. I recently updated my laptop to Windows 11, and I've been encountering some issues with connecting my Galasy-S-23 phone to it. Before the update, everything was working fine, but now the connection seems to be problematic. I wanted to reach out to this forum to see if anyone else has experienced a similar problem and if there are any potential solutions.

Here's a bit more detail about the issue I'm facing. When I connect my Galaxy-S-23 to my laptop via USB, it doesn't show up as a recognized device. The phone charges, so I know the USB port is functioning properly, but it doesn't establish a data connection. I've tried different USB cables and ports on my  intel laptop, but the problem persists.

I have already tried the following troubleshooting steps without success:

Restarting both the phone and the laptop.

Updating the USB drivers on my laptop.

Enabling USB debugging mode on the phone and reconnecting.

Changing the USB connection mode on the phone (MTP/PTP).

None of these steps have resolved the issue, and I'm at a loss for what to try next. It's frustrating because I frequently transfer files between my phone and laptop, and this connection problem is causing a significant inconvenience.

If anyone has encountered a similar problem or has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate your input. Is there a specific driver or software update that I might be missing? Could it be a compatibility issue between  Windows 11 and the Galaxy-S-23? Any insights or solutions would be immensely helpful.

Thank you in advance for your time and assistance. I look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,

Tammy Gombez

Developer Options (On) < Default USB configuration (Networking) < Transferring files

To enable developer mode on a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, you can do the following:
  1. Go to Settings
  2. Tap About device or About phone
  3. Tap Software information
  4. Tap Build number seven times in a row
  5. Enter your pattern, PIN, or password to enable the Developer options menu

For me, this still does NOT resolve the issue, the phone is still unrecognisable by the PC in the file explorer. Cable is original (new) from Samsung, phone keeps on charging, however no active connection with the windows 10 PC.

Thank God I'm not the only one experiencing that. It's driving me crazy.

Usb transfer hasn't worked properly for weeks now and fully stopped working a  few days ago.

It's obvious that many people have reported USB issues in the last weeks with varying symptoms though.

I Had various USB issues myself, using up to 5 different cabled and several device counterparts, starting with cabled Android Auto suddenly stopped, then charging often issued moisture detections, even though the port was clean (I ensured it was).

Then suddenly charging (even Superfast charging 2.0) started working without any alerts, but connecting to a computer became impossible.

There's a chance that the Smartphone connector is still the root cause, but I actually suspect the Software.

Has anyone experienced a similar series of problems?

This is a huge issue. When I try to connect my phone to my windows 11 pc windows doesn't even recognize there's anything attached to the usb ports WHILE on my windows 10 laptop it does recognize the phone but immediately disconnects it. I have to unplug and plug the usb cable again so windows can open it on the explorer. This could only be achievable by turning on dev mode, usb debugging AND using the *#0808# code on the keypad so I can access the USB menu mode. There's definitely an issue on windows 11 side with their nonstop broken updates AND samsung who hasn't done anything about it yet.

It seems this is a common issue that's not solved at all. I'm having the same issue with my S22 Ultra AND my Galaxy ZFlip 3. I even reformatted my computer thinking that it was a corrupt registry, but it's not. Weird part is that the phone appears when I select the transfer image option, but not for file transfers.

Is this a Google Android issue, a Samsung issue, or a bloody Windows issue?!

Hi,

I experienced the same issue today, and I fixed it by downloading the "Samsung Android USB Driver for Windows v1.7.61" or whatever is the latest version.

Restarted the phone and PC - after installing the drivers, and I used a USB-C to USB-C cable, and now it recognizes my phone (S23U) and shows up in file explorer. USB-C to USB-A cables don't seem to work for some reason.

P.S. Phone shows up whether USB debugging is enabled or disabled. USB default connection setting is set to "Transferring Files/Android Auto" instead of "Charge Only"

Hope this helps!

Same issue here. Has to be from my S23 Ultra. Doesn't show up on 4 different laptops. My A54 shows just fine

Installed and uninstalled and installed Samsung drivers several times. Several different cables. USB debugging on and off

Nothing

This problem has been taking up so much of my time. Been trying everything as well.

FINALLY I HAVE FOUND THE SOLUTION! Hope it works for everybody...

Okay so first I went to Device manager... & instead of going to "universal serial bus controllers", right clicking...& updating drivers.....(which may work for some ppl but all you are way past that)...

I instead..in the Device manager...the very first option at the top or near.. it'll say Android Device, You might have to go to "View" at the top of page and click show hidden devices..- then Android Composite ADB Interface...right click, update it..itll say Samsung Mobile USB Modem ##3  your phone will show up

also try updating Modem in Device Manager

this has not fixed for me since around 2-3 months ago,and I think this is happening because of that update where my samsung phone is updated to a new version of OneUI

P.S:I am using A23

I had the same problem. My Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra suddenly stopped connecting to my PC. Only charging was available. The problem was on all my PCs regardless of whether it was Windows 10 or 11 and it started after I upgraded my phone.

As it turns out, there is one funny Korean guy at Samsung who thaught it is funny and decided with the upgrade to disable the use of most USB cables in connection with Windows PCs.

The solution is to buy a USB-c 4 or Thundeebolt 4 cable (USB-C to USB-C) and, if necessary, if you do not have a USB-C connector, add a USB-C to USB-A adapter on the computer side. This was after weeks of research and trying the only thing that worked for me, after trying every other possible solution suggested from dozens of forums.

I hope Samsung returns support for older USB cable protocols with the next upgrade.

Eventually, samsung published an update for my A23 and because I use the original cable which came with the phone now I can connect with the computer, for the other people they should also try to install that samsung usb driver and see if it resolves or not
