I have a new Samsung S23 Ultra (T-mobile version). My first charge was from a low wattage adaptor while I was expecting the 45W charger to arraive. It did charge but very slowly.
I updated my phone, got the new charger and everything was fine, until I tried connecting it to my PC via a USB cable.
I am using the original cable that came with the phone and a USB Male to USB-C converted so that I can connect it to the PC.
The problem is that when I connect my phone to the PC, I don’t get any notifications on my PC or even on the phone. But with some suggestions from others, I have enabled developer options and enabled USB debugging. This is of no use because I don’t get any notifications when I connect my phone.
When I connect the cable, I get a starting to charge pop-up and then it is gone. Nothing! The same happens when I remove the cable and then connect again.
I have noticed that when I plug it into the old charger, the same happens now weirdly but it was charging fine before (albeit slowly).
I have used the same cable with the converter to connect one of my friend’s Samsung S24. It detects fine. So, I assume the cable is fine and the converter is also good. At this point, I don’t see the need to invest in a new cable.
Any suggestions to rectify this issue will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Have you tried wipe cache partition of the phone?
You could also try open phones dialer type *#9900# then scroll down and you should see batterystats reset click on that and see if any of that helps
If you haven't tried you can try put your phone into safe mode and see if it works that way.

Hi lminvti,
Thanks. With your suggestions, I just did wipe the cache partition and the did the dialing to reset batterystats.
Strangely, now when I connect the old charger (which did charge the phone initially) does not detect anything. Previously the charger icon pops up and disappears, after those two steps nothing.
Then I connected it to the same cable with the converted, detects nothing now, not even the pop-up. Something has happened but not very helpful thought. Thanks

Not exactly. I am using multiple ports, not the same one, and trying different ports. And the old charger of course would be another different connection - the same behaviour.
What I note is that, I bought the phone just last week and as a fresh charge I did the charging with my old charger. It did charge fine. But, after updated the phone and of course getting my app data back from the old phone, I have started to see this behaviour. I cant tell if it could have connected before the update, because I did not connect it to the PC back then.
Further, I can share that I can browse some photos and files via the 'Phone link' app. But I would want to solve what this direct connection issue could be.

This comment was on Reddit.
"This started after an update. Makes me wonder if it is related. Happened to both my husband and my phone at the same time, after the update."
I suspect the issue could have happened after the update for me too.

Check Auto blocker in Security settings Turn it off, in the last update USB connection with other devices was disabled. It is not enough to just turn it off, but open it and check that it is not on the maximum restriction, then turn it off as well.
