Anyone else find that the fingerprint sensor on galaxy's are very picky.
I've got both a S20 FE 5G and S23 Ultra and both are very finicky with fingerprints even if I remove and redo them.
Washing hands, a little blemish or scratch on finger stops it from working. This in turn stops the security working on other apps unless I remove fingerprint recognition.
Go to my Pixel 3XL which has sensor on the back I have no problems and this is same with Huawei P20 Pro it doesn't have problems.

Face unlock on android is rubbish compared to apple face unlock so no point using that, so it looks like back to passwords/pin to use phone and apps.

@walkerx: I'm sorry to hear that you're having some issues with the Fingerprint sensor on your Galaxy S23 Ultra. Do you have a screen protector on the device? If so, please head to Settings > Display > Touch sensitivity, and toggle this option on to see if this helps. To test the hardware, please head to the Samsung Members app > Press and hold on the app icon > Diagnostics > Fingerprint recognition, and follow the on-screen prompts.

It's more to do with blemishes on your fingers that stop it from working correctly, even minor blemishes and it on both S20 and S23.
I've already done all the checks and removed and readded fingerprints and get same issue.

And yes I do use screen protector, which is the Samsung one

Wetting finger seems to get it to work which is weird

@walkerx: The Fingerprint sensor will naturally require a complete scan in order to cross check it against your registered fingerprints. While I understand that it might not be ideal, blemishes, scars etc will provide an incomplete image, so this actually speaks to the accuracy of the sensor itself.  You do still have the option of entering your backup password/PIN in the event that you're unable to unlock your device using Biometrics.

You may already have done more then one scan of the same finger. You can add up to 4 scans, scanning the same fingerprint more then once really does improve recognition.

Something that makes the sensor work 99% of the time, for me, is scanning the same finger more than once.

I know can revert back to pin/password but some apps won't let you change until you've scanned fingerprint to get into the app.

I've tried doing the same way you would with old sensors which do all parts of fingerprint.

I've set it up to use multiple fingerprints to try and resolve issues

In my case it's more to do with dry skin.

I sometimes find breathing on my finger helps but I do find the scanner on my s²³ Ultra works most of the time.

I have a Samsung Tpu Screen protector fitted too.

To be honest the best fingerprint sensor I've used is the one on the Fold³ which worked flawlessly. @walkerx

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.
